Today I drove an hour to a Burlington in the hope of finding a mug. No luck there but when I starting visiting thrift shops and vintage toy stores that Googlemaps showed me, I found this sweet girl. I was recently outbid on her during @MustBeJewel ’s auction so I was pretty thrilled. She was quite reasonable I thought.

But the best “find” I ever scored was two summers ago at the local flea market when I was digging through a box labeled 50 cents each and found these…all 5 were mail order. Napper was missing, but I sure dug hard to make sure that was the case!

I still have yet to find a G1 in the wild, outside of a Windy I found at an antique market last summer. Y'all have such amazing finds that it gives me hope I'll still find one in the thrift store!
 
One of my best finds was my grail Junko Mizuno Pony in amazing condition. She was sold on our local advertisements site (like eBay) together with Tattoo Pony and Comics Pony, and each was around $2.50! The seller definitely didn't know how rare ponies she was selling :lolpony: The pony was without her hood on the listing photo, so I assumed it was missing, but she arrived with it! I also bought the other two ponies.

Another best find on a local site is a rare Minty. At first she came in a lot with some fakies, and before I could order the lot the seller realised she was selling something worthy and listed her separately for an incredibly high price even for this Minty. The listing was there for a month or two, and after some time of waiting and talking we finally agreed on a reasonable price.

Curious, which Minty is that and why she is she so rare? There are so many similar g3 Mintys! How do you tell them apart?!

Thank you! I was really surprised to see her for sale in my country. We have quite a lot of collectors here, so it's easy to miss something interesting.

According to Strawberry Reef, it's Minty VI, she came in a set with "A Very Minty Christmas" DVD. This was the only time she was released in this pose, and this set is considered as international exclusive.
Yes, there are a lot of Mintys in "donkey" pose, but there are also some in other poses. If I remember correctly, Minty in "diva" pose was a bonus pony in one of the sets and is also considered as hard to find.

Yes, she's a 2009 exclusive Junko Mizuno's Design from My Little Pony Project :)

I keep forgetting to get a picture of mine (MPP, Brights Brightly, Star Catcher with Citrus Sweetheart)

I started thinking if I really did make this thread or if I just imagined starting it :lolpony:
 
My best find was at an antique store, I found zip lock bags with 2 ponies per bag, all in perfect condition priced at $1.25 - $2.50 per bag! I left with around 20 ponies for about $30 - the most valuable in the lot was Bright Eyes, the price was worth her alone! That find is also what really inspired me to put my childhood collection on display and start collecting more! :snuzzle:

I didn't know if there were more than 10 ponies in there but it still seemed better to take all. And at home I was so so happy with what I got.

This is soooo cool! I still wish to get a box full of G1s one day :lolpony:
 
pics died with my old laptop, but around...2015? i found a massive G1 lot posted on offerup. it was $175 for around 40-50 ponies, including cha cha, baby crumpet, twilight, lemon treats and mint dreams. i ended up keeping most of them, since they were either upgrades or i didn't have them. the lot also came with paradise estate, the perm shop, dream castle, the satin slipper sweet shop, the baby buggy and bathtub, all complete, and a huge tub of accessories. this was this lady's childhood collection and she said she didn't have time to go through it all, but was overjoyed it was going to a collector.

i know i'm never gonna find anything like that again. :tongue:
 
My first big purchase I shared in this previous post - a collector was downsizing, and she just wanted the ponies out of the house, for just €2 a piece!

Besides that, I don't have pictures on hand, but I've been frequenting a local flea market often - they hold it in industrial halls, so it's BIG. So many people come there to sell random junk, and I've managed to pick up so many ponies for just €1 - €3, including a G3 plush! The same experience as @Septima Windsong basically - folks just don't know what they have.

The Netherlands will have a holiday soon celebrating the King and there's always a giant flea market as well. I've come to love this forum very much over the past months, so I'm going to scour the streets and score ponies to trade and sell here!
