G4 Retro Versions of the Mane 6?

Has anyone else seen this package of the retro-version of the Mane 6? Those of you who know G4, do you think this is a reasonable price for such a thing? For the record, I am not a seller of this item. I'm just trying to decide whether I want to buy it. They ARE super cute. But they are 3" ponies, not 6" ponies. And at $7 each pony, I can't make up my mind whether to buy it. What do you think?

Yup, I have them. Though I customized Applejack and sold off Pinkie Pie. Did a review on them.

The hair is thick, silky and soft, but also slippery which makes it a bit hard to style. Gotta tame it. The moulds have some bad seams, and the eyes are a bit off-putting on the earth ponies. The plastic is hard. The poses are great. Two of the symbols are new. Applejack bears a resemblance to the Rescue at Midnight Castle style. It's a mixture of G1/G3. There is also an SDCC Twilight that was sold with movie style Twilight Sparkle as a Twilight Through the Ages thing. It was also available on Hasbro Pulse. Though oddly, they nixed adding in Twilight Twinkle. She was the first pony to be done in this style.



Overall a very cute set, and how I wish G5 looked. My biggest gripe, aside from the bad seams, and weirdly placed eyes is that it's the Mane Suxx, with no other characters.

So get it if you're an army collector, don't mind having doubles, you want to upgrade, or you just plain like them. Don't get it if you're fed up with that cast of character repeats.

@Leave a Whisper, thanks! I actually did buy it. Having not watched any cartoons nor bought many G4, I haven’t had time to become tired of these characters. In most cases this will be the only version of them I have.

I do think it super odd - so, for quite a while these were the only characters that had toys at all? I kind of stopped following entirely when G2 arrived and so I am still understanding how things played out.

It seems like they are doing the same thing with these new movie ponies? (Sunny Starscout etc)

No there are other G4 toys, but most of them were relegated to little blind bags, some brushable toys, packed in with the mane six, or put in the odd playset.

The repeats of the Mane Six in toy form was like G3's Core Seven, only on crack, multiplied by a bajillion, and continuing to be dragged out all the way into G5. So we'll just say that fatigue set in a looooong time ago, because the point of obsessiveness got insane and out of hand.

It's the complete opposite of G1 and G3, where you'd have tons of new toys in a set and the occasional repeat.

Got it! What I’m hearing is, I probably just bought the only G4 ponies I really needed anyway, and can now go back to blissfully ignoring that Gen. Lol!

Sure. Oh I forgot Apple Crisp, the hair can be dyed which was nice.
