Wesley was escorting me to the fresh food pantry at the school today. We walked from the office out the door and around the corner into the room they were using. On our way we passed a female human with a very dirty probably Chihuahua poodle mix. It was on one of those awful extension leashes and came rushing at me and Wesley barking like mad with it's teeth out. Wesley, I'm proud to say, behaved perfectly no barking growling pulling on the leash just a look acknowledging the dog was there and real, and it got to only six inches away. Wesley could have torn it apart if he wasn't so well trained and behaved.
After the pantry, carrying heavy bags back to the car, we took a different longer route to avoid the nasty dog. Well, that didn't work. They had let the dog off of the leash completely! It ran up and bit Wesley! On his bad leg! Wesley turned and growled then we walked too fast for my broken self while the owner tried to catch it. Wesley behaving perfectly, again. It took every single ounce of my self control to keep from hulking out on that dog owner by picking up a nearby metal bench and smacking her with it. She's lucky that I'm naturally a pacifist and that there were children present. Her dog bit mine and she didn't even apologize. Her dog was off the leash and clearly not under control on school grounds during school hours. So. Not. Ok. I'm writing to the authorities about this.
