Hi everyone,

I recently received 2 ponies that need some extra TLC, and I hope someone can answer my questions before I start tackling the issues.

I purchased an SS G1 Truly, but her flocking was dirtier than I realized. I gave her a good cleaning but didn't notice much difference. Given this and how loose the flocking was, I decided to deflock her. Here is how she currently looks (head hasn’t been deflocked yet, and some glue still on symbols):

Turns out she’s more yellowish-white than white under all that flocking. I’m thinking of sunfading her, but as I understand it some ponies aren’t safe to sunfade. I can’t find any info about Truly specifically; does anyone have any experience fading her, or any input? If I shouldn’t fade her, what are my options? I’ve read about hydrogen peroxide baths but worry that will damage her mane.

My other new pony is in better shape but has blue pen marks on her back legs.

Acetone and Magic Erasers won’t remove it, and I read somewhere that sunfading can be damaging for pink and purple ponies. Anyone have experience with this, or other suggestions for removing the marks?

Thank you!

So, I’m not sure how well sunfanding does on G2 ponies as I have no experience there.

BUT for Truly, you can put her in an H2O2 bath -but before doing that I would recommend leaving her in a bath of Oxiclean out in the sun. I have had a lot of success of getting a pony more white this way too.

If you end up using the H2O2 bath, depending on how long you leave her - her hair may fade. Best to try using cream use water based (white) acrylic paint to paint over her symbols, eyes and blushing then secure her hair in something so the sun can’t get to it. I like to use paper towel then a layer of tin foil and then a small hand towel secured with cling wrap over that. This will secure everything and not expose the hair to peroxide cream.

I have had absolutely no experience with G1 or G2 ponies but I just came across a thread on the MLP Arena about who shouldn't be sunfaded. I'm not sure if you've seen this or not when trying when trying to find out about Truly. I don't think I spy any Truly there but there seems to have some good pointers in it.

I hope somebody can be of help here!

G2's can be finicky.

Will the Oxiclean bath damage her hair? And if that doesn’t work, what kind of cream do you recommend?

Thanks StormMaeker, I actually checked that thread and another one but couldn’t find Truly on there. I just want to make sure she’s okay to sunfade before potentially ruining her

I checked there first (it’s my go-to reference for restorations and care) but can’t find anything on G2s except for replacing the eye crystals. I know G2s weren’t as popular as other generations and I assume that’s why there isn’t as much information about restoring them. Another thread I found was hesitant about sunfading darker ponies, hence my trepidation.

Oxibath's haven't done anything to any of my pony's hair when I've done it (and I've done a LOT). Having said that all ponies are different and can react differently, so I can't say 100% yours won't have issue.

As far as doing a peroxide cream, I personally haven't used it. But I'd highly warn to use extreme caution with the cream as people have often left ponies too long and burned a white pony with it. Because cream tends to work a lot faster a lot of people prefer it vs the H2O2 bath as that takes much longer.
