That moment...

:eek:bummer. Doesn't work for me either.
Has happened to me before...purchased of evilbay, because I was so excited..........but I forgot to ask.....
and then realized right when I opened the box  (sigh)

Just means you will find a better lot!;)

Yeah I am really thorough now when I shop on Ebay. If the listing does not say smoke free I ask because I got a REALLY nasty package one time. This particular lot has a Mimic in it! The seller does not seem to be aware of what she has, but I refuse to buy from a smoking home. Even third hand smoke is so dangerous and my hubby has allergies. I would kill for a Mimic at a bargain. She is so pretty but SO pricey!

Yea that would be a disappointement for me also. I am so allergic to smoke that when a smoke smelling pony enters my house it makes me sick. I have worked hard to remove smoke smell, but I will admit it sometimes takes a while. In fact one pony I bought it took a year for her to air out and I didn't get to enjoy that pony at all for that period of time.

oh no :(
It is such a pain trying to get rid off smoke smell (even though it is possible). I always wonder why people smoke in their homes.. it ruins everything..

I sniped my Maggie Sottero wedding gown on Ebay and got a $1,000 dress for $170 shipped. I was heart broken when I received the package and the box smelled like it had been sitting in a smoking lounge. Thankfully the dress bag protected the dress. I later found out that my mail man smoked in his truck. Now I report mail men if I see them smoking in their trucks. It is so infuriating!

Oh and honestly, I don't think in the end that group is going to be a deal. The price is already nutso with a long way ta go. Yea the smoking mail carriers have ruined several items of mine. If not for the fact they also throw my boxes. Argh

Ah, it was pretty low when I saw it. Must have just been listed.

Yeah I have turned in them for throwing packages too. The one I have now is seriously awesome. The one I had before was a total jerk. He refused to say hi to me and when I would meet him on the porch he refused to hand the packages to me, he would plop them by my feet. What a tool!

Well, I speak as a non-smoker with smoking parents, but the reason I see is this: the same reason why you do anything in the house.
Smoking, to smokers, is a normal action just like any other. They know it might be bothersome to others, but to their minds, it's not that big a deal. It's only until the cigarette ends, which isn't that long, nothing to fret about. Either that or they just don't care because the addiction is too great, I don't know, I still haven't figured out that part yet.
Okay, the people I know that smoke do have some standards, like, don't smoke anywhere other than the kitchen or living room - kind of like you wouldn't take a sandwich to eat in the bathroom.
I'm not trying to defend them, believe me, I've been trying to get them to stop since I was 8 (holy frakballs that was 19 years ago). I'm just in a position where I can sort of see why it happens. What I can't see is why, oh why isn't the fact that you could save $10 a week at least (I don't know how many packs they buy) isn't enough for them to just STOP already. That's a whole $40 at the end of the month!
Okay, rant over. :p

So yeah. The upside to this (I guess) is that smoke smell doesn't bother me that much since I'm used to it. I can't single it out unless it's really, really strong. But I totally understand people who take issue with it.
It does make me wonder, though... Do I smell of smoke to other people? :(

That moment when you feel overwhelmed trying to sort through 11 years of craft supply/paper/scrapbook 'hoarding' to get ready for a community garage sale in ONE week. Ugh, time flies. I used to work at Michael's and that is when I got bit by the crafting bug. I have an entire closet in my house dedicated to paper stacks. I haz an addiction - LOL! Thankfully I am meticulous and organized, so it has been easy to go through. It is just A LOT of stuff.

Oh and that is a huge pet peeve of mine. Why do these people drive up the auction so early? Dur!

People just have no clue how to bid on an auction. An experienced bidder knows better. One must be patient and wait. It shocks me what bidders do on the bay. They really have no patience and they get involved in these wars that only drives the price up way past the value. I just shake my head. There is a much better way to handle an auction. This is not it. I so rarely bid in real time on ebay its not even funny. My style of bidding now is much different than years ago when the bay didn't even have photos on every auction. Boy things have sure changed, but the minds of bidders certainly hasn't. These same people will go to the grocery store and complain about the price of an item, but they will certainly see no problem with bidding themselves to poverty online. ROFLOL

Oh and I have a problem with paper products also. Runs and hides....

I am being swallowed by embellishments! I keep taking a break because it is just so overwhelming. I hope I sell it all because if I have to bring any home I will cry!

I think you will. There are many paper and crafty addicts out there that will love that stuff. It will probably be the first stuff to go lol.

From your lips (er typing hand) to God's ears - LOL! Yeah it is a fun sale. There are hundreds of people hosting sales and then there is usually a lot of traffic. I know vintage toys do not move much at this sale. I was able to snag some really primo toys over the past two years (one year I got all of the SSC blow kiss dolls MIB for $50 total). This will be the first time I have a table, but I will have help so you know I am going to go around and look for toys. Last year I got almost the entire She-Ra line, including two play sets, for $50 :)

Good luck @Icey for your sales :) !

@PrincessLio I know what you're trying to say. My boyfriend smokes (he is now once again trying to get rid off it) and my dad but they go outside to smoke, not inside the house. That is whats bothers me. It isn't that big of deal to go out to smoke... yes there are people that don't care where they smoke. I too try to figure out why won't they bother what happens their stuff/House etc. when they smoke..

All of the friends that I have that are smokers have never smoked in the house. They have this little area outside where they can sit and smoke and talk. All of them have children and didn't want to subject them to the second hand smoke. My step father smoked when I was growing up and I was sick every day. He smoked in his office and all over the house. Then one day the doctor told him he had to quit and he did. I got well then. They even had me on shots a child trying to keep me well from that smoke. He really didn't seem to notice how ill it was making me. My friends with asthma could never spend the night without having attacks and weezing all night. As an adult I have developed Asthma when I didn't have it as a child. I feel it was that smoke for all those years. Its small airway though and doesn't require treatment all of the time.

I hate getting smoking smelling packages its not cool. However at least it not what happen to a friend of my who is in the BJD doll hobby like me. She got a really nice doll for a really good price and when it came the doll, box, clothing, etc. Reeked of Cat Pee needless to say she had to throw out the special box and pillows and paperwork of the doll. Her clothing took I am not kidding months to clean. The doll had to be soaked and wash many many times and had to have a new face up on it.

I could not image something like that coming in the mail to me. Yuck.

I am a cat lover but its a poor seller who would send packages be it from smoke to cat pee to a person without telling the buyer.
