That moment...

I hate getting smoking smelling packages its not cool. However at least it not what happen to a friend of my who is in the BJD doll hobby like me. She got a really nice doll for a really good price and when it came the doll, box, clothing, etc. Reeked of Cat Pee needless to say she had to throw out the special box and pillows and paperwork of the doll. Her clothing took I am not kidding months to clean. The doll had to be soaked and wash many many times and had to have a new face up on it.

I could not image something like that coming in the mail to me. Yuck.

cat pee is a tough one. I have a product call Urine Gone and it really works for that. I think people become immune to the stinky stuff in their homes. Still, thats so bad. BJD dolls are very special. How awful.

Ewwwww... I have always hated the cats litters smell.. That's why I do not own cats :p

That's true people really become immune the smells in their homes. Once we did have a towel in our lobby because we used it to clean my dogs paws after walks. Well ofc it did get dirty and smelly but I didn't realize it before someone said so.. also I could not smell that we got dog in our house (that dog smell, every dog owners has it ;) ). Now that we do not have a dog I can smell that doggy smell again :p lol

You live in Finland! I always joke that I am going to move there because I love the way Finland takes care of its people. The baby box is awesome and I am in love with the way you school your children :)

I bought a pony from a smoke home. The seller never mentioned it. I eventually got the smell out though! I would do it again though for a bargain pony. I have never had ponies smell like pets before.

We live in a smoke house due to dad smoking. Well, the ponies' room never gets touched by Dr. Smokeus. Has to do with the door being close and dad smoking outside. Also, my Chocolate Chipper has a funky smell, probably her original scent. I thought it was pee or something lol

Nope. Once the nicotine and tar get into something it is nearly impossible to get it out. My family smokes. I do not visit them very often and when I do I usually try to have them come meet us outdoors. If I even sit on their couch the smell transfers. I once tried to wash some clothes from vacation down there (before I had kids), six washes in baking soda and vinegar and I could still smell smoke on the clothes so I threw them out. Even if you could get the smell out, third hand smoke is just as dangerous as second hand smoke. I just would not risk it. It makes me sad too when parents smoke with their kids in their house. I grew up in a smoking home and I wish my parents were smarter about their choices. I try to keep my kids away from smoke as much as possible, which makes me sad because I wish I could spend more time with my family. They also live out of state which makes that harder.

Lol that baby box really did get very much media visibility :D Well it is cool that we get good education for free and health care is also almost free (depending situation and stuff) but then again we got pretty high taxes too.. But every country has its pros and cons ;)
Sure you can move here ;) then we can have some pony parties :D

Smocking is so bad bad bad :( It is sad that when cigarettes were published nobody didn't know/care how bad healt issues they could do...
It was a big mess few years ago (I do not remember year but somewhere in the 2000s) they (I think it was EU? :D) banned people from smoking in public places like cafes, bars etc. I'm glad they did! It would not be nice to work for example in restaurant if every customer would smoke or go and eat there..

Hee hee - I am a pretty crunchy Mama and everyone in my groups talks about the baby box! What a cool idea. I fear if they did one here in the US it would be corporate sponsored and full of things people do not need.

You know I use kitty litter for smokey smelling stuff, but even after months resting in kitty litter, I had one pony that didn't become smoke free for months and months. So, even that doesn't work always. You can't wash the smell out and the reason is plastic, fabrics and surfaces absorb it. It also yellows things. It gets into the item deep. Depending on how long it was subjected to the smoke will depend on how easy it will be to remove the stink.

That moment when you sort this much stuff out of your craft supplies and you barely make a dent :/

ugh, trying to get smoke smell out of anything is so awful, even non cigarette smoke is a pain. I had a big box of legos once from an auction I went to, it came from a home that had had a house fire. THe lego was fine, but smoke covered. I figured it would be easy to clean..it never did lose that smell. Such a shame.

As for smokers smoking in the house. My grandmother moved in with us when I was around 12 years old. She had smoked all her life and wasn't about to stop, nor was she about to go outside (my dad smoked indoors too.) It was too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer for her to go sit outside at her age, and it was her part of the house so as far as she, and my father, were concerned, it didn't matter at all. It was SUCH a shame because the room she smoked in the most often was her sun room, where she kept her collectible Beatrix Potter items. Antique stuffed animals, china figurines, books.. it was a total nightmare to de-smoke those after she passed, and the walls and ceiling were brown not white.

Now my dad knows that he's not allowed to smoke indoors when he comes to visit me, and he is totally respectful of it. He's allowed to use the front porch (a covered little room) which protects him from the weather, but he HAS to have the windows up to let the smoke smell clear.
