The pony that got away

I've distanced myself from the collecting community, mainly because I see a pretty pony someone posted, then I want one like that, then I end up spending too much money. The ponies are lovely, but not for the wallet!

But, on a random day recently, I looked up "dream beauties" on ebay, and saw an auction for one. I refrained from bidding for it, because I decided it'd be better to show self-restraint.

The horse sold for around 41 usd, shipping included.
Wish I made an exception for a Dream Beauty, and attempted bidding for it. The most recent bidder probably put in a high price that I couldn't have outbid, but who knows. And now I really wish I could've bought it, because the likelihood of ever seeing a dream beauty with all her hair intact for that cheap, is very unlikely! And I've always wanted one, I really like the tall ponies like the Sweetheart Sisters and Dream Beauties.

Any ponies that you wanted, but missed out on? Any that got lost during shipping? One that you had, but became lost somehow?

That's really unfortunate :(
Hope you can find one again in the future

I can relate to that too. There were several ponies I had my eyes on in mercari jp like Heart Throb and a few pony lots with a bunch of G1s and G3s which had really good prices but they were all bought up because I hesitated :sadpony:
And also a Nightglider in mercari that came with the ribbon and comb that's sold for cheaper than the other Nightgliders but I couldn't get her in time because I wanted to save up money thinking I could get her on a later date.

Ever since I bought Pony Bride I've become interested in tall ponies too and I REALLY want at least one Sweetheart Sister!

I saw a Dream Beauties pony on auction recently too-- Not sure if it would have been the same one. A Sky Splasher in Australia that auctioned for about 49 Australian dollars excluding shipping.

I know how you feel though, I almost NEVER experience buyer's remorse but I frequently experience non-buyer's remorse... I can't think of specific examples right now besides the times I refrained from buying one of my most-wanted ponies (Baby Dibbles) and missed out because I'm a cheapskate haha.

Yeah, that one!

What a shame! I love love love my sweetheart sister, the one i have is Spring Song. I recently missed on a lot of 6 ponies, including a MIB halloween starsong and two big brother ponies! It sold for 30... :'(

I've really had my eye on the pearlized babies recently and I keep seeing them on Mercari - sold for like $15-20! - before I even see them get posted

Theres been a few times where i was bidding on a lot or a pony and i lost by $1, oi!

I cant remember they were, but i sure did wish i had put that extra dollar on there xD

All the time. Like you, if I frequent the auction sites, I spend too much. But once in a while I find something I want. I put a high bid on it. Whatever I can afford at the time. I usually don't win. Such is life, I guess.

All the time! I try to be a bit conservative and later think, what was 2 or 5 dollars more? I waste that on a bag of chips.

My recent loss was a petite bundle that would have fixed some parts I was missing.

that used to happen alot with me. Though I think about Cascade that I never bid on. Oh well, I am happy with what I have now. Even if I dont own all the Euro ponies in the world.

In the original g1 releases I had 3 of the 4 rainbow babies. They day I was going out shopping with mum and was going to buy the last one, my dog chewed and destroyed one of them so I bought a replacement of her instead.

That was the last time I saw g1 in store.

I did finally find one, but she was a repair and it just wasn't the same for me.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that! I'm sure whoever won ended up feeling super lucky and will give it a good home.

I saw Sprinkles at Goodwill outlet before I got into collecting ponies. I recognized the design as an original MLP and went to pick her up to take home, but I changed my mind when I saw her ratty hair and sticky body. Nowadays, I'd gleefully scrub the mold off a pony, knowing that practically all G1s are going to be raggedy in some capacity.

About a year ago I saw a lot at the thrift store for $50- it was maybe 8 or 9 fairly common G1 ponies and a carrying case, all in iffy condition. I hadn't been collecting for a while, so I decided $50 was too much and left them there. But now that I've officially started a collection again, I really wish I had picked them up! I look at the shelf where they were every time I visit that thrift store and feel the regurts deeply.
