...I've just about talked myself into purchasing Rapunzel. To keep a long story as short as it can be, I have extra income right now taking care of my elderly grandma that won't last. I don't want to put it into rotation on bills because inevitably I will come to depend upon it and then when it is gone I'll be sad AND broke....and I'd rather only deal with the sad part, when that time arrives. Which could be any time.

I know of 3 that are currently for sale on eBay: Only the first is anywhere near what I could afford, but that's at the very high end, and it appears to include the same exact photos as

the one that is for sale on Mercari:

I have questions. The first one is: Since it appears ebay's lanel-686 is the same person as mercari's lauranelson555, is she a member here at the Trading Post? If so, I hope we can talk? Obviously based on price I'd like to order the one from Mercari. However, the description there (and on the matching ebay listing) is clearly AI generated, and says nothing about the actual condition of the pony....but, the seller took care to put detailed pictures up, pointing out the marks - which honestly don't look too terrible to me. And I believe I can salvage the hair, based on those photos.

Also, if Laura Nelson is not on the trading post, is anyone aware of anywhere else that a Rapunzel is listed for sale by a MLPTP member, or does anyone seeing my post have one they've been considering selling but just haven't pulled the trigger to list it yet?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts / opinions / suggestions.

New info - after talking with the seller and receiving more images and a discount, I purchased this pony. She arrived today, and looks exactly as pictured. If anything, the marks on her are less noticeable in person. She is currently receiving the princess hair treatment. Her mane and tail came out of their braids beautifully and were easy to untangle. I didn’t risk the flat iron, as most of the sparkle is already missing from her tail, and I thought that might be why.

Here she is, in her curlers. lol! Working with her is terrifying. I can’t wait until her curls are dry and I can lock her in a tower I mean, plexiglass box for safekeeping!

Same photo with different prices makes me a little leery but I’d be leery of anything at that price anyway. That’s exciting that you’re in a position to get her, though it’s for an unfortunate reason. I hope you can get her!

I just assumed the price difference was due to the differences in listing costs between the platforms.

Yeah, that does seem a little odd. I would be shocked it would be such a large difference just due to the seller fees. For such a big investment purchase I don't know if I'd wanna risk too much, if you do decide to get her from the Mercari listing I'd make extra sure your purchase is protected.

You can also just hang on and keep saving up, another may pop up in your price range.

One of the Rapunzels might be a scam from the same photo. Are the two seller names similar? If they are there's a possibility that its not a scam. But I highly recommend not buying this.

@Hearty the names do appear related. But I guess you’re probably right. If the seller doesn’t turn out to be a member here, I should probably hold off.

And to everyone else’s points, that is kind of a big price difference just to be the result of higher platform fees. I haven’t tried to sell anything on eBay in ages, but I do hear people complaining about eBay fees….

I keep hoping to find her in the bottom of a box of yard sale ponies but so far no such luck. The season is coming around again, though.

maybe you could go ahead and message them both on either platforms and ask for additional photos, if one cant provide them then that user might be using stolen images. i would def be weary of that mercari listing though, it seems like they know she sells for a lot so theyre slightly low balling it to make the listing appear more appealing.

@baby_sprout that’s an idea. I did receive an offer overnight on eBay that took the listing down to the same price as the Mercari listing.

And the seller’s accounts on both platforms do appear to have perfect feedback. I was just hoping folks here knew her

That's a little more promising then, but for such a large purchase I'd still double check on all your purchase protections!

@Gingerbread for certain. I see on ebay it does have the buyer protection link. And I use paypal for everything, so I do have that protection as well. Still, I'm probably going to wait until fall. The more I think about it, the more I realize it is silly to buy it right BEFORE yard sale season! ;)

Congratulations!! Can’t wait to see her when she’s done with her spa day!!

Thanks! I will be sure to share the picture when her hair is dry!
