G3 Whatever Happened to the Fabled Ribbons & Hearts Pony?

So… I’ve done some research on this… idk, anomaly pony? I dunno what else to call her. She’s an unreleased prototype from like 2010 I believe? Apparently a lot of people never knew she existed. Or did she ever actually exist?

One thing I’ve noticed about her is that while she is an unreleased prototype, she has more attention and wiki pages than the handful of other G3 prototypes. Why is that? I’m very curious.

My understanding as of now is that there were about 5 of them made and then sold on eBay in China.

Does anyone actually own this beautiful ghost pony? Or know of someone who did/does own one? Or is she just forever lost to the unknown and I’ll only ever have her as a custom made from a bait?

i think a few people do actually own her- not sure who. while i would absolutely love her (especially her closed mouth variant) i think she is THE most unobtainable thing on my list, lol. however her & wish-i-may/tulip twinkle have extremely close colors; maybe a custom will be in order...

Yeah… I’m highly considering just seeking out a baity Wish-I-May or Amazing Grace just to make into a Ribbons & Hearts cause there’s no way I’ll ever own a legit one.

As far as I know, she was a breast cancer charity pony. There’s two versions, mouth open and mouth closed. She had a heart shaped box. I think the prototype and numbers were so little because they were raising money perhaps?
I swear the first time I came across this pony was when I was doing pony research, found the TP and saw her being given away?

something i noticed about the closed mouth version is that it has a head and body from different poses. it has the art pony head with the body of the daffidazey pose. that makes me think the one in the daffidazey pose was the one meant for final release and not the mixed up one. either way, i'm led to believe that both prototypes ended up just not making it to mass market and were sold off by the factory workers. i've seen sold listings and a thread for a price check on here from a couple years ago, so she definitely does exist, just how many (of each) are out there is the big question.

She was being sold here by a member and you are correct, she was a Cancer fundraiser pony with a small limited edition.

Wow! They're gorgeous! You're so lucky to have BOTH!! And I'm interested in the other difference between them, too. In the open-mouthed version, the hearts are white with a pink outline, while with the closed-mouth version the hearts are solid pink!

Are her face molds slightly different, or is it just the angle here? The open mouth version seems softer, and the closed mouth one seems a bit more lively!

Hmm, I have had this pony for a good few years now but honestly can't remember where or who I purchased her from. I wanted her because my grandma kicked breast cancer's booty back in the day when it should have kicked hers. I have no plans to sell her at this time but might consider it at some point. Anyone have an idea of her current asking price?
