I received a Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe today that is not in as good of condition as I’d hoped. It’s pretty yellowed and needs some love so I’ve been contemplating whether to restore it or customize it, leaning heavily toward customizing and it got me thinking that I’ve never seen that done before, though I’m sure it has.

Anyone here done it & have example pics or links to share?

It's pretty cute.

I have a nursery that I'm debating doing this with. It needs some painting either way because I had to glue and sculpt part of the roof back together.

I did find a couple old threads, possibly the aforementioned castle?

They went with a more castle look.

Others comments on painting playsets.

I haven't been able to find the painted blue castle.

Welp, now I need a baity Dream Castle. :winkpony:

Thank you for the links! I had no luck searching around for anything.

After researching how to restore yellowed plastic, the Slipper is disassembled and sitting in a tub of peroxide in the sun. It only got about 4 hours today and the less yellowed parts are already white. Hoping tomorrow finishes the worst panels. I don’t have any after pics yet, but these are the before…

Now that I see this, I'm wondering if I could take my Showstable apart like this, so I can put it in a bin with some dish soap and water. It also has really bad sun damage, so maybe I could try and redye it? I got it for really cheap, cause it was dirty and faded and missing a few parts, but I want to make it look as good as it possibly can. I don't want to just throw the whole thing in water tho, because I don't want to damage the stickers.

The stickers on this one were a lost cause so I removed them first anyway. But yeah, you wouldn’t want to submerge it if you want to save the stickers. I found a site that has the stickers as PDF scans so I’m going to look into printing new ones.

I've seen a customized Dream Castle and a Pretty Parlor turned into a candy shop. I say go for it!

I haven't finished the cosmetic changes, but I've converted a Show Stable into a UV chamber! When the outside details are done, it's going to be themed as a resort spa. I'd love to see what the Satin Slipper could be recobbled into!

Personally I'd take pictures of all sides assembled, remove the background, and than import it's pictures to an art program and start playing around with color plates to see what I liked!
Then I'd sand, gesso, color, and clear coat mat varnish it!
