Fair Pony Undercutting Resolved x-posted

wow....that really Upsets me. I`m not sure I`m gunna tell my Hubby about this,
he`s the one that spent the $35 buying me the fair pony and He would be pretty mad to hear this. I understand it`s an 'exclusive' pony, but shouldnt Hasbro be giving fans a break? It`s nice they gave out some free Ponies, but to charge that much for the exclusive at the fair and then lower the price online ...thats just really wrong. Especially in this economy.
It`s also upsetting to hear the security was Rude.
I was only there on Saturday, but I know if I had been there Friday and been
treated like that it would have put a huge damper on my day :-(

That's awful!

Summer, is there anything we can do to help- any particularly good way to contact Hasbro about this?- let us know.
I'm so sorry- I had no idea you put that much of your personal finances on the line for us to have such a good time, although I knew about the amount of time and effort you went through!

People, I know this won't make sense to some of you, but I urge you to temporarily boycott the Hasbrotoyshop.com website, or at least don't purchase the fair pony from there. I know it's more expensive from the Fair, but if you've ever been to a fair or plan to go to one in the future, please think about it. This is a really low thing for Hasbro to do. Please don't participate!

I'm really, truly hoping that this is just a mistake on Hasbro's part. This is so wrong for them to do. I didn't even take the UK fair into consideration.

I can only imagine how upset you must be, Summer :frown: And I'm so, so sorry you've worked this hard only to have something like this happen. No one deserves this less than you do!

Is there any way for you to contact Hasbro personally, and try to figure out what happened here? I can't believe they would intentionally do this as if we wouldn't figure it out. Nothing about this is fair at all. I just hope something gets worked out.

*Huge hugs* We love you, Summer, and I'm sure all of us appreciate all that you've done for us. Hang in there!

My contact at Hasbro replied. The pony should have never gone up for sale on the Hasbro site. It was a communication issue between departments it seems. The pony has now been marked as "Out of Stock" and will be taken off the site completely tomorrow.

I am very impressed at how quickly this issue was handled on Hasbro's end. It was a mistake and mistakes happen. I'm just thankful that they were willing to make it right.

Please don't send nasty emails to Hasbro on behalf of the Fair. We are very grateful for everything they do for us.:eek:k:

This is certainly disappointing. I do not agree with severing ties with Hasbro. It has taken us many years to develop a relationship with them; however, I do think that we should express our disappointment. From what I recall of the 2008 Hasbro tour, all of the employees were very friendly and accomodating. I'm sorry to hear that so many of you had bad experiences.

When I buy my Fair pony, it will be from the Fair site itself, regardless of the extra cost. Everyone knows how hard you've worked to make the Fair enjoyable, Summer. I do hope that you are able to contact them and that there has been a mistake. Perhaps it would be a good idea to explore other avenues for next year and not have Hasbro host our event.

ETA: You posted before I did, Summer. Good to hear that the mistake was corrected so quickly. What will happen with the people who were able to place orders, I wonder?

Glad to see this update! I was seriously concerned for you. I wonder how they even have any to sell, sounds odd to me. I still have other issues with Hasbro but I will take them up with you further, Summer. Thanks again for all you do!

Good to hear things are working out Sweetune! I don't think many of realize how much you put into saving the fair last year and you really do deserve far more credit!

My earlier comment about dumping Hasbro was a hasty statement made in disappointment. I know you have worked hard to make that relationship so I am glad that you were able to work it out. I just wish they could show alittle more respect to those that travel so far to appreciate their product!

I'm so glad to hear it was resolved & that it was a mistake! :)

nm, posted before reading everything

I placed an order for one as soon as I saw this post, even though I just bought two from Summer a few days ago. I mostly wanted to see if it would go through, and if it does I guess I could always use a backup.

I checked my email and all I've gotten so far is a auto-reply "thank you for your order" email, but if I get an update with an "item no longer available" I will be sure to let you guys know.

I kind of had a feeling it was a mistake, albeit a weird one. I don't know which I want to happen more now, an extra pony for $20 or the email saying not available :p

When I saw this all last night I was really hoping it was a mistake. It made no sense otherwise. I felt like it was an error or more so, wished it was.

I am glad it was resolved quickly but like a few others mentioned, what happens to people who ordered it through the HTS? Does anyone think they will receive them?

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on the whole security thing.
Granted, the guards could have been more approachable but it's not the first time I've experienced attitude like that - maybe it comes with the job?

When I went on the tour in 2008 security was very low. I took a motherload of pictures and I also remember spotting the concept drawings for the underwater art pony, which we weren't meant to see judging from the reaction of the Hasbro lady lol

Anyway. Since then they have hosted quite a few conventions like SSC. I can't help but wonder if something happened at one of those that made them tighten things up?

Hmm... Maybe the people who managed to order the Fair Pony for $20 from the Hasbro Toy shop WILL receive their pony... Because really, Hasbro Toy Shop has to save face to their customers. It would look bad to their customers if Hasbro had to say, "Sorry, we accidentally sold what we weren't supposed to," and then the customers could then potentially put in a complaint to Hasbro over that! No, I imagine that Hasbro would want to have better customer service than that. So the people who managed to order the $20 pony from Hasbro directly can just consider themselves lucky for scoring a good deal over Hasbro's mistake. ;)

I got an itemized invoice this morning saying it all shipped. =/

I don't think the people who ordered them from hasbro will get them b/c as I understand, hasbro does not actually have any of thr fair ponies in their possession. The fair organizers have all the fair ponies.

Interesting. This could mean one of two things. 1. They accidentally sold part of the UK Pony Con's stash (unless the Con organizers already have them in hand!) or 2. Hasbro will have to ship a different pony to those who ordered this 2011 Exclusive online. They can't just charge and not give anything, so it's got to be one of those two options, right? Unless there's a third, unknown option.
