Fastest way of cleaning ponies?

I have been cleaning my apartment and gathering all the ponies that I've found at toy shows/ebay/flea markets, and I've come to a realization... I have over 100 ponies waiting to be cleaned. I think the most I've ever cleaned in a day has been around 30, and I was dead after that.

I was wondering if anyone had a super express cleaning system to do so. Do you clean them in groups? If so, of how many? Do you wash a group, then have them wait, and wash another one, and then start over with group 1 to do hair? What would you recommend I do to speed up this process?

I'm still pretty much a newbie collector, but I'd think it would be faster in groups. At least that's how I did my first group of purchases. I'd clean a few and while they were drying, I'd start on the next group. Once the first group dried enough, I'd work on their hair while the second group dried. It might help to group them by how much cleaning they need or what type. That way if you had a group that needed to soak for awhile in Oxyclean or whatever you could in the meantime work on a group that will clean up with just soap and water or a Magic Eraser. Does that even make sense? lol I've been shopping all day so I'm super tired. If stuff I type doesn't make much sense, that's why.

100? Call up a couple friends. Then ring up the pizzeria and have them deliver some subs and a large pie. Fill up the bathtub with warmish to hot water and add enough laundry detergent to make the water a little sudsy. Throw everyone in the pool, haha and give them a good soaking! Then when the friends arrive have some lunch/dinner, then get to scrubbing! One person can scrub, one can rinse and one can dry. (Pat dry on the so-softs!)

 I love this idea! :first:

I break mine into days...... but i have't had 100 ponies waiting to be cleaned :p
But when lucky enough to score a big lot, it's tubbytime .
i fill it with hot water & tide soap. and scrub & shampoo.... then everyone gets put on the towel and spend the next few days by the wood stove...once dry we do a hair day & make them pretty ........then Robyn will sneek off with some and have an adventure.......And i just laugh :)

okay I sort of have a magic solution... I mean to do a tutorial soon, but I bought this dirty Tex from ebay a while back and I didn't have any of the traditional cleaning stuff everyone else uses on hand.
What I had was this foaming cleaner that we use on our porcelain tub. It's designed to cut grease and grime without etching plastic and porcelain. OH MY GOD. What a miracle. All you do is spray it on, leave it for about a minute, and wipe it off...
Where did this stuff come from? The freakin' DOLLAR store!

You could always cover your car with them and go through a car wash lol Funny visual, but I don't think it would be too effective

Good luck with coming up with a simple solution though ;)

If you soak the ponies in the tub does it get water inside their tail holes? I would love to do that but I'm afraid I won't be able to get them to dry all the way and they will get mold inside or tail rust. Or do you take off their heads first, and then soak them? When I do that I can stick chopsticks in a glass and put the head and body each on one to dry, and I feel that they are sufficiently dry after a day or two. What do you think?

This idea sounds like a winner ^_^

I'm a naughty girl who doesn't clean any of her ponies. So (not counting my MIB/MOC ones) that means I have about 450 that need to be cleaned. I'll assume that about 50 or so came to me pre-cleaned. lol. I'm afraid of wiping off glitter on some, and too lazy for most. Although, I have started to condition their hair, so cleaning must be coming next. lol. I like Kar's idea though. That is what I'll end up doing. hahahaha

Ok, I have a few questions. If I use magic eraser on ponies won't there symbols or designs or even glitter be removed? And what about the girls with the tinsel in the hair. I'm not sure how to wash and style pony hair. I'm quite new at all this. And a little timid that I'll ruin a pony.

I'd just fill up the tub with warm water and soap and dump them in and get to scrubbing!

Alicewonder, Magic erasers are okay, just be carful around symbols, glitter, blush and eyes. For the hair I just wash and condition it with my shampoo (even the ones with tinsel) comb out and wrap the hair around the neck and tails around one back hoof. That way when they are dry they hair has a nice little curl to it.

We have a great FAQ section with tutorials/helpful hints on cleanin ponies :D

Thanks! I like that soo much better then boiling (eep) I guess I'll try mild dish soap and water on a wash cloth and see where that gets me. Quite a few of my ponies have designs on there legs and such so I probably shouldn't use magic eraser on them.

Sorry, I somehow missed the tutorials. I have to see if there is something there on getting rid of baby bouncy's pink mark on her symbol.

Thanks Again!

Oh man you guys gotta see my kitchen, LOL. Try washing 500+ for the fair! My record is 150 in 1 day:D But I had my hubby and sister on the assembly line, hehe. First we brushed every pony to make them easier to wash their hair. Then they were all organized by type/somewhat by year for my own sanity and lined up across every counter/kitchen table, thank gosh for an island! So I would stand with a little bowl of water and my magic erasers and wipe them all down, toss to hubby who had the hot water goin (filled up the sink to save water) and since our sink has 2 sides, I filled up the smaller one with half a bottle of conditioner/water mix. That way, all he had to do was dip, squeeze off excess and pass to his sis who rinsed and set them up on the other counter. Then turned the fan on and they were dry by morning:) Then of course each pony has been squeeze tested to make sure ALL the water is out at least 3 times before she'll be packed:)

That method is the fastest you'll find, you better get help! Otherwise sit down with 2 bins. One with the ponies, your water and cleaner infront of you, wash one and toss into empty bin so they're ready for hair, and just do the hair once the bodies are clean. That also goes much faster;)

Have fun! I'll be posting pics of my displays once everything is washed and priced;) I have my two 6ft tables set up in the dinning room so I can set up a practice run for my booths....only have 2 shelves filled so far, oye!
