It has just come to my notice that on all the Twilight Sparkles I have (wound up with extras), the heads are darker than the body. Doesn't really bother me but still... Does anyone have a TS that's not two-toned? Just wondering if they all came out that way or just some batches. I'm talking about the single with pet version.

Mine's head and body don't match either, and neither does my Applejack's :(

I've heard the vast majority of Twilight's are having this problem (I know the one I have is pretty drastically mis-matched) She's even mismatched in the stock photos though so I think this is just an ongoing problem...
HOWEVER, I saw a Twilight Sparkle from a shipment of wave 3 ponies (Dewdrop Dazzle, Lulu Luck, etc) and that one matched perfectly. But I don't know if that means Hasbro has finally gotten their act together or if it's just because she's "fresh".

My Twilight and Pinkie both have this problem..AND IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!!WHY HASBRO???WHY???

I don't know about Twilight Sparkle, but all of my G4s that have brushable hair have mismatched head and bodies!

It's a shame the new ponies are that high quality...

It does seem serious and I think Hasbro should be informed of it.

Who knows, these twotone ponies could become collectors items if the line is fixed! :p

:-( that's where my extra TSs came from, a shipment from EE in order to get the wave 3 gals. (x two, one for DB and one for me). So... Gah. I picture a giant vat of heads and a giant vat of bodies being dyed, and someone going, "meh, that looks close enough"

Not really G4 related, but I recently got a G3.5 Rainbow Dash, and her head and body are slightly different shades. It drives me crazy... It's not even like one is just a darker version, they're just not the same.

Well that's the thing, usually the heads and bodies /are/ from different batches of plastic. So if any bit of the ratio is off.... mismatch =/

I got the balloon release of TS, and she also has this issue. It is fairly obvious in the photo, but it's subtle enough to not really bother me that much. I don't know if it's any more toned down than the individual release or not, as I don't have that one.

I noticed that. With G4, the head feels like a normal pony head, but the body is some weird, dense, clammy, sticky plastic that I don't like at all. :(

As a customizer this drives me bonkers. Why did they have to use two different types of plastic. (and to any one who has not bought these girls yet but plan to; hold your breath when opening. the newer plastic they are using stinks)

Huh I haven't heard about the issues with the mis-matched colours on heads and bodies until now. I have the Twilight Sparkle from the balloon set and you guy are right! Her head IS darker than her body, but not by much. The lighting in my living room where I unpackaged my ponies sucks, so I didn't even see it until now when I went to a window.

But she seems to be the only one of my ponies that suffers from the two-tone problem. I looked over my other 7 G4 ponies and those all seem to be a perfect match! I wonder if it depends on the Wave release, I think I got alot of Wave 2 ponies on my shopping trip (though what I found very strange was that the only basic pony I bought that came with a pamphlet was Rainbow Dash. it makes me think she's a wave 1, but her head and body are a perfect match)

I don't know why they used a different plastic, that is strange isn't it? Did someone say the G3.5s had this issue as well? Because, those and the G4s use that new type of head connector, maybe because of it they had to use a harder plastic for the head or body. Weird!

Oh, I hadn't noticed the smell. I'm fairly sensitive to smells so maybe I just was in a well ventilated area or something.

I have the balloon and the individual release Twilight Sparkle. The individual one is okay, but still mis matched, the balloon one was AWEFUL and bothered me greatly, so I got rid of her. I do have a spare individual Twilight Sparkle who's head matches her body pretty well.

Thundercloud the G1 has this same problem. You'd think after 20 something years, Hasbro would get it right!

My Twilight Sparkle seems to have a lighter body than head. Her head is a nice purple color but her body is more magenta.

Could it be not so much a reflection on Hasbro's quality control, rather more about the fact that she is purple? I know that the purple G1 Care Bear poseables had the exact same issue with some parts being different colors. I'm thinking in particular of poseable Share Bear's arms almost always being a pinkish-magenta in comparison to the purple body, which reminds me an awful lot of my Twilight Sparkle's two-tone.

Mine too. My Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash are particularly bad. I think out of my six G4 singles, only one didn't have the problem...that, or it just wasn't as noticeable. I'm guessing probably the latter. I'm really OCD about this kind of thing, so it really disappointed me...but I just brush their manes across their necks to separate the head from the body when I style their hair and it makes it a little less noticeable to my eyes.

I also don't like how the G4 bodies have the mold lines in them, running up the front of their chest down the front of their legs...where as the G3s just had nice seamless bodies.

When I got my G4s at Walmart, I went through every single one looking for heads that match the bodies the best. None of mine match exactly, but they are all pretty close. I think the different density of plastics between head and body is part of the problem, but quality control is also an issue. They shouldn't be releasing for sale some of the drastic mismatches we're seeing.
