G5 G5 Chatter

Went to TRU tonight after work and it paid off. They actually had new merch on the shelf in a timely manner!

I must admit, I actually really, really like this set. Even Sunny and Pipp look nice and they’ve added in slightly different hues into Pipp’s mane and tail to make her stand out a bit more than usual. Sunny has her rainbow mane but you can’t see it too well in the box, but it’s there.

But of course the 3 reasons I bought this set do not disappoint, I am in love with these girls, especially Misty. I think anyone who picks these up will feel the same.

No out of box pictures, sorry guys. Maybe if I can get a set on clearance sometime. But in my collection they’ll stay boxed.

They’re very pretty. I love Misty too but I do wish they had kept her blue hair vs pink. But what can you do when MLP is still classified as a “girls toy” and “gurlz luv pink.” :rolleyespony:

oh wow, is the little crown on pipp's cutie mark gold?? maybe i missed something as i haven't gotten a new pipp in quite some time but it's a nice touch, i think it suit's pipp's colors a lot better than the yellow i'm more familiar with!
 
Ooooooh finally! I love the larger brushables but I've missed the smaller ones that aren't quite as much of a burden on space, lol. Misty's pink gradient is really pretty, but did they ever give a canon reason for why her hair changed colors? I'm not caught up on Tell Your Tale so I might've missed it.

The finale of MYM is when they reveal her full name as Opaline Arcana too. This episode of TYT was about what happened in the final MYM episode but we don’t see this change in the 3DCG characters. Why didn’t Misty change? I was kind of expecting it when I saw MYM. Also, Opaline reverts back to original colours at the end of this so maybe Opaline is only supposed to become shimmery when using fire powers

Whilst I was out I decided to look in The Entertainer to see if they still had ponies

This was some of the selection! I didn’t notice until now that something pony related was beside the brushable Sunny, bottom shelf

These figures are actually pretty well made. They only had Sunny and Hitch for the selection though. Also, single colour cutie marks

They also had the Izzy brushable. I very nearly got Pipp but I must save money for a trip coming up and I had to stick to what I was out for today

I have seen it but thank you for tagging me anyway, it's a bit of a badge of honour to be thought of when G2 is brought up haha. So excited I hope I can get a copy

Right?! I don't even know how the heck to get pony comics to begin with, or when this one will be released? but it definitely looks like a good one to have. They did well with all of the art styles.
 
I got my hooves on the 40th anniversary comic today!! The SDCC exclusive comic cover is very cute, and it is included in the back of the comics in what I call an "art section" but I can only assume it has a more official name. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get a copy of the SDCC exclusive cover since I won't be attending, so I'm glad it's in there in some way :happyhearts:

The G5 part of the comic was so cute. Like, really really adorable. IDW does a really great job at writing these ponies, and the references to G1 in this part of the comic we really good ones. Which is strange to say but the first comic mentioned that the G1 ponies live in Equestria, which is like a huge no-no to G1 fans!!! I thought the irony of what they were saying was funny and cute as well. I included some pictures in a little spoiler here in case people don't want spoilers, but I wanted to share a little bit with you all.

I love the IDW comics. I feel like if there is one G5 media to get into it is the comics. I try and support them as best I can which includes urging others to buy them so.. if you're interested, get the 40th anniversary comic!! The first story was pretty long and wasn't my favorite, but the other two were so fun and it felt like they cared a bit more about G1 / the magic of having multiple generations. Priced at less than $10, I think it's worth it!! There are also many beautiful illustrations of the collector's pose ponies, especially Snuzzle, which made me happy because I love her.
 
All hail shiny brushy manes and tails. ^^'
