We're 6 months away from the next March Pony Madness, and frankly that is unacceptable.
So I says to myself, I says: What can be done to remedy this void? And this is all I could come up with.
I remembered the forgotten sets of the G1 line, the sets of Years 6 and 7, when Hasbro took the idea of gimmicky sets to a glorious and laughable level. What would happen if those ponies were, for some convoluted reason, asked to battle it out? Well let's ask them and find out.
(rofl, as I was typing this, the Simpsons episode with Milhouse's My Little Pony blanket came on, and I was filled with a wave of self-depricating shame. Yet that wave passed quickly and I will procede with this post).
I've collected (sadly, only figuratively) 12 sets-of-6 from Years 6 and 7. Every other day or so, we'll put one set up on the boards for voting. You simply need to choose which pony from that set you like the best. Then, the pony with the most votes will move on; each set sends its top vote-getter as a representative to a collective Pageant of sorts. A Pageant de Gimmick, as it were. From there we'll choose a top 5 or something, have pageanty things perhaps, and then find a winner, I don't know. It's all just an excuse to post some polls, so I'll work out the details as we go.
Yes-no?
The pedigree for inclusion in this game is that a set needed exactly 6 adult ponies, that it comes from the forgotten years 6 and 7, and that the set is, naturally, gimmicky. (Also, the Summer/Windy Wing ponies are excluded, because that just wouldn't have been a fair fight.)
Let's start with the Brush n' Grow Ponies! Choose your favorite BnG, the one you think is "best," perhaps the one you think will do the set proud, perhaps for some other reason. Your reasoning is your own.
(I'll do my best to provide reference photos for the voting).
And, of course, state your opinion in comments as if your life depended on it.
(For reference, we'll see polls for the following sets in the days to come, meaning each set will send one pony to our gimmicky equivelant of the United Nations:
Brush n' Grow Ponies
Happy Tails Ponies
Magic Message Ponies
Sundae Best Ponies
Sweetberry Ponies
Candy Cane Ponies
Dance 'n Prance Ponies
Merry-Go-Round Ponies
Perfume Puff Ponies
Sparkle Ponies
Sunshine Ponies
Sweetheart Sister)
