I'm sure this was asked before at some point, but I don't see any topics related to it at the moment so I figured I'd go ahead.

I know everyone tends to display their ponies in cabinets/on shelves so that's not really my question. My question is, what order do you like to put them in? I'm asking mostly out of curiousity but also because I was thinking of giving mine a reshuffle and I'm not sure how I want to do it. Trivial, I know, but then it made me curious. Right now mine are displayed according to colour, and there's sort of a gradient effect because of the ponies that are sort of "in between" two colours.

How do you guys do it? By pose? By set? Simply by favourites or at random? Pictures are welcomed :)

I arrange mine by favorites. And in pairs, that I think go together well...either because of their symbols or colors. That's about it, really.

I don't like doing mine any other way than sets. For some reason it makes me feel disorganized and it looks kind of jumbled because you may have all these different generations or different size ponies all together... but that's my weird compulsive side coming out.

I really want to learn how to love them in other ways too.

mine are in a cabinet in the living room around a corner where most people don't see them... don't wanna freak people out... they just don't seem to get it.

I just HAVE to display them according to year and set, I just have to ;)

I arrange mine by generation. But if I have two ponies who are friends or two ponies in love or a family or something, I make an exception!

mine are arranged in sets, in release order! at least to the years lol, my g3 are a bit all over the place since they need sorting through tbh, I have my euros separate, unless there is one the same already, for example, normal and french seashell sit next to each other, as do 3 different types of CJ! my playsets, well dream castle has 4 different maj's displayed on it!
one shelf has all diffrent variations of only bowtie and applejack (with babys)

I have tried displaying mine several different ways, and have found that displaying them by pose and then by color helps you fit more and has a pleasing effect on the eyes. I do have my rares and armies seperated out.

And then what is left I sort by pose and then by color... this shows off the variants too since you can see the differences side by side.

I display my standing up. :p

Just kidding. I have one curio cabinet that displays my certian sets. I have my TE's, PP's, Princesses and SS's in there. Then I have some other shelves that display my year 1 and 2 ponies, and all my boys. Then on another set of shelves that have my customs on them. I used to have more of my ponies out, but I packed them away to make room for baby. I like this new way now because my gals don't look so crowded.
