This from yesterday's Metro:

Lady Gaga says My Little Pony inspired her hit 'Born This Way'. She said 'I had My Little Ponies. I was obsessed with the idea of a creature that was born with something magical that sort of made them the misfit in the world of the stallion."

My Little Ponies led Gaga to empathise with unicorns - which feature heavily in her latest video. 'I'm actually quite obsessed with unicorns. They are in essence a mythical creature so what I'm trying to say is the unicorn was born magical and it's not the unicorn's fault and it doesn't make it any more or less special or any less unique but it can't help that it was born with that magic.'

That is just so cool! I've always loved Lady Gaga, she's the best thing to hit the music industry since Madonna! I just love how she celebrates difference, unique-ness, etc. etc. She really strikes me as an all accepting loving person. I'm actually not so surprised that she she likes My Little Pony, I think anyone that truly loves ponies has a love for art and anything beautiful and creative, as she is :) Go Lady Gaga, I love you girl! :D

Yep, I totally agree.

My Mum said 'I bet everyone will throw ponies at her when she's on stage now!' That would be so cool!!!! (I'd grab some!)

I hate Gaga :p

She can sing beautiful but her personality..UGH! The only things I like at her are:
~the fact that she loves ponies
~she dedicated her song to the unicorns
~she can sing well

Maybe pony prices really will go up... this could be great for sellers, but terrible for people who are new collectors and want to add to their collection quickly.

I can't wait to see if it affects sales!

Note to self: Buy all the Shine Bright Rarities in case they go up in value, LOL!

nope pointing out that some chick who has managed to capitalize on things that have long since been discussed, established and created by others does not counter the point that she is uncreative, shamelessly steals materials left and right and claims it for herself.

Asserting that she supports the GLBT community does not make her a saint, so far all it means is that she's capitalizing on others suffering and inequality. how me some actual activism on her part and we'll talk. Even if this came into play it still does not usurp the fact that she does none the less steal ideas and subcultural markers and establish them as her own tokens. Just because you have never seen something till MTV shoves it in your face does not make the subject the creator. Catch on. She's using alternativity, including alternative lifestyle/orientation as a self promotion campaign.
