So..I was wondering if any of you have run into fellow bronies/pony fans why shopping for ponies?? I ran into a few today and it was hilarious.

I forgot to mention mine! I came around the corner of toys r us to see if they had restocked, saw three folks standing there. I was a bit timid till they started rattling off pony names expertly. I asked all tentatively if they were bronies and much giggling insued followed by a nice chit chat.

Oh fun! I've met a few pony people in real life, but never by accident. I think that would be awesome! I do get really shy in the toy aisle. I don't like it when anyone else is around as sometimes I stand there for like 15 minutes doing random things like snapping pictures, tidying the pony section, etc. Hahah!

Hahah, never while shopping for ponies, but I have a pony sticker on my nametag at work (it was fluttershy until it peeled off and now it's Pinkie Pie) and I sometimes get comments on it ;3

Usually it's little kids who want to tell me who their favorite pony is, which is really adorable, but one time it was this girl in her twenties who complimented me on the sticker but said she "preferred the older ones". I was so excited I gibbered something about how cool it would be to have stickers of Firefly or Buttons instead but that I was stuck with the ones that were actually in stores, and it made my day so much. I was grinning like an idiot for the rest of the day~ I wish I could figure out who she was!

Oh, and the other day a guy came through my line wearing a "brony" shirt, too, but another cashier got to him first so I didn't get to chat with him :(

Haha, cute! I should wear a pony stick on my nametag at work.

Personally, I haven't met other collectors or bronies, except for my 14 year old sister who collects them as well.

The closest I have come to that was being the toy aisle and watching a girl (who was probably about 12) try to convince her mom she was not too old for ponies. I couldn't help myself and started to giggle. The mom kind of looked at me with a dirty look. I couldn't blame her, I was some strange person laughing at them. I apologized and explained that I was in my 30's and in the aisle to buy ponies for myself. I told the little girl that there were many people out in the world of all ages who collect them. She looked at her mom, and said, "See.....I'm not too old....she's WAY OLDER than I am." I took the unintentioned stab in stride and laughed again. The scene worked out for her....the mom sighed and said, "You better take care of it.....and still have her when you're this lady's age." She snatched up a Rarity and thanked her mom about a thousand times in 10 seconds. lol

Ah-ha ha ha ha ha!! WOuldn't you love to follow *that* story to the end? :) (You old fogey, you. Heh he heh.)

Actually, I considered giving them my number incase she ever got tired of her....that I would give Rarity a loving home! lol But yeah, it would be fun to know if they are going to be pals for life. Who knows, I might have met the next member for this site. lol

I've never met another adult pony collector in person because I don't think there are others in my town, but the good part is I don't have much competition when tracking down ponies. I do, however run into fellow Hello Kitty collectors all the time. I have several Hello Kitty bags and I always have one with me when I go out, so I tend to get people coming up to me and complimenting my bag or saying that they love Hello Kitty too.

@ Josiecat - your story made me laugh really hard xD kudos to you for helping that little pony fan! I can't believe any parent would consider a 12 year old to be 'too old' for colourful, adorable toys.

I haven't met any fellow pony fans while out shopping yet, young or old, unfortunately. It'd be great fun to run into people my own age ( 25-30 range, I'm almost 28 ) in the pony aisle at a store though ^^

Not while shopping for ponies but once I was sitting in our school's lobby going through a bunch of ponies a friend had brought for me when two other kids a year younger than me came over and told me that she and her sister really liked ponies too, and watched all the old episodes (G1) on youtube. It really made my day :3

That's fun! I never had this chance because I'm the only collector in my area.

That's awesome! Slightly OT but it reminds me...just the other day I was in the toy section of a thrift store, and there was a girl there (didn't get a very good look, but she was probably 10-13 years old) and she picked a little bag of toys she wanted. I heard her dad raising his voice about how she was too old for stuff like that. I don't know how it played out in the end but I'd guess she probably didn't get whatever she wanted (wasn't ponies). It made me so sad. I really wanted to go over to him and be like "yo, I'm 21 and I'm looking for toys to buy..."

Anyway back on topic. I might have had a run in once. I was at a craft store (buying ribbon for my ponies lol) and the cashier who was probably in her late 20s-30s commented on...I think it was my G1 Cotton Candy pin on my purse. She said something about not liking the older ponies much because they looked like potatoes or something? LOL! I think I laughed and probably said something about liking all ponies. I wanted to strike up a short convo but my shyness got the best of me.
