Hey, is anyone excited to see what Hasbro has up its sleeves for the MLP line this year?

Or does Taobao serve as our new source? Haha, I don't know, but I do know that the New York Toy Fair is this week!!! February 12-15.

I'm so ready!!!



ASM Zine is the best news source for the Toy Fair, I've found. Surely others are stalking the site.

And Hasbro released a blurb about MLP in it's pre-fair press release. Turns out Princess Cadence is going to have a wedding (news to me, but hey, I've been out of the loop lately, unfortunately. Speaking of which, who is this Princess Cadence? I've only caught up to episode 2 in Season 2 of the show.)

Here's what Hasbro said:

Here are some more pics someone sent me, which we'll probably find higher resolution of and hear more about as people learn more from the toy fair:

Forever Friends Figure Pack - This set contains 3 of the "Cutie Mark Crusaders" featured in series 2 programming. Dressed as flower girls, in-keeping with the wedding theme, this is the perfect castle playset accompaniment.

Standard Pony Assortment - Each 3 inch Pony figure has a rooted mane and tail, perfect for styling and comes with new wedding themed accessories and comb. 18 characters to be released.

Bridesmaid Assortment - This play set includes all of Princess Cadence's special bridesmaids. Ponies have rooted hair and tail as well as beautiful bridesmaid dresses and accessories. 4 characters on the way with 2 in each pack.

Fashion Ponies - These princess fashion ponies provide little girls with all of the great hair play, dress-up play and sparkle they desire. The larger size (6 inch) makes it easy for little hands to play.

I really like White Celestia (and so will my daughter, who has been complaining about Pink Celestia since she got her). I now think the reason for creating Princess Cadence was so they could still have a pink princess pony, and fix Celestia.
I also like the glow-in-the-dark Zecora, and I am pretty sure my daughter will, too (she loves glow-in-the-dark stuff).

But... why does that unicorn have that hideous thing painted on her face?!?

I love pearlescents... Sounds like Celestia will be pearlescent.. :allecto:And is it just the lighting, or is the fashion style pony looking like she'll be pearlescent? gah, 2012 is going to be expensive. I don't go for pink ponies, so if they make lots of pink ponies as in the past, it'll be cheaper...LOL And of course no more Mane Six for me, so maybe some savings (of course, to get some of the new ones, probably we'll have to buy a set that includes a Mane Six...)

This is exciting. Love love LOVE the white Celestia, NM Moon and the "side" characters. Wondering, though, (not whining, just wondering) why still no Big Mac or Granny Smith? Are they the only "main" non-villain side characters without a toy at this point? Even Cheerilee has several incarnations...

Hasbro's sales about to get 20% greater.

I'm glad they gave the DJ her shades - for ONCE the pony actually LOOKS like she does in the show!!! Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth and just hope Hasbro continues to provide.

Although, the troll hair on Shining Armor has GOT to go, you can't brush his silky locks if they're ratted and nasty! I hope this was a cheap prototype and the real mass-produced boys will have nice hair, even if it's shorter than the girls.

Clever Hasbro will now proceed to make a slew of recolored playsets with stolen-from-G3-mold-accessories and only ever release boy ponies with them, as someone else noted in the wedding playset's thread.

Wedding-themed accessories with 18 characters sounds like it has promise - please Hasbro DON'T rerelease the waves from this year, give us new ponies with new shades of pink!!

I'm so glad the girlie PLAYS with the G4s, leaving these ones MOC would just be wrong. They SOOOO need to be played with. Can't wait to start seeing them in the stores. We're going to have to buy a second bin for her ponies. LMAO The first bin is over flowing already. YAY!!!

I'm not gonna buy Brony Pack (because, really, that's what it is - and it is a smart move on Hasbro's part) so I'll have to find my Nightmare Moon elsewhere.

The pack isn't an unreasonable price if you break it down. About $5 a pony including Nightmare Moon, which is about how much each pony would be individually anyways, and Nightmare Moon had she been separate would be a bit more than $5.

My only concern will be how hard it is going to be to get a set with none of the ponies having factory flaws. Pinkie and Dash I'll be a bit more lenient on since I already have a few, but DJ, Trixie, Lemon Heart, Daisy, and Nightmare Moon will be a pain to get without flaws all together! I had a hard time just trying to get the CMC Set with Cheerilee without flaws!! Hasbro really needs to up their quality control.
