"Sew cool!" sewing appreciation thread

This is dumb now that I think about it... but I heard that crochet can only be handmade. Like, knitting machines exist but not crochet machines. So, seeing crochet garments as fast fashion I'd really concerning :(
It is! they have sweatshops in third world countries producing crochet pieces!
The big companies started it up because of crochet trending on tiktok!

The only thing we can do is not support it! If you want a crochet piece you're going to need to find an independent artist but they've got Pitfall traps on Etsy!
the third world countries are producing the crochet pieces and selling them at a major discount and then displaying themselves as real artists on Etsy!
The price is going to be your dead giveaway!
I've seen so many crochet artists have their original designs stolen buy these big companies and then sold as the original!
In competition with the real artist!

Though I'm more into cross-stitching, I do have a sewing machine and sew from time to time. Usually they are small projects like pony wear or some things for home. The one big project I did is a set of pillows and a curtain for my cats' house which I did a year or two ago :lolpony: It wasn't a good time, so this funny project cheered me up a bit.

Each pillow has a pillow case, two of them are yellow and two are brown. There's also a handmade embroidery on two pillow cases.

And there's the curtain:

I’m in the process of learning how to crochet actually. If I manage to make anything cool I’ll let you guys know…it’s not a good start though, :lolpony:

The magic circle is my enemy at the moment
Once I get over that hump then I might start making strides.

Okay so most magic circle tutorials have you doing three loops around your finger that's way too many Loops you only need two!
Edit: i'll PM you with tutorial pictures showing you how I do it! lol

Sounds good! It confuses me so much and I have invested so much into the craft before I even have it down

Okay I sent the photos! hopefully it helps! XD
Don't get frustrated if you can't get it to work the first couple of times it took me about 3 years to get it down pat! >~<
Like with any craft it takes patience and practice!
I wish you the best of luck in your crafting endeavors! :greenheart:
