...I think that the girl who said that people are turning a blind eye because he has provided the community with rare columbian ponies is right.

Exactly. If he goes, he takes his super rare baity ponies with him. I guess the community would rather have dirty baits than safety in buying, who knows. If you or I had done it, we'd be banned.

Is it just me or does the pony listed on ebay looked "touched up"??? Here is the NV pic from the show.

and here is the ebay listing pic...

uhhh... it looks like it was re-done!

anyone else agree with me??? Thats if it is the same pony.

Wow... I hadn't looked that closely.. that's certainly not the same pony!

He's been asking around for people who can restore ponies... I wonder if this boy got that kind of treatment, or if it's a different pony altogether. Though the odds of finding another that specific is really... really slim....

For some, restorations bring in more money, but I think it's more likely that they LOSE value because they're just not the same... not original.

go figure. he probably did get it restored! ugh, how stupid!

Could there be 2 of those?

hmmm, interesting comment in the auction

VERY VERY GOOD CONDITION.... TOTAL ORIGIONAL.....NEVER ANY REWORK

I really do wonder, his other past auctions dont mention 'Total original" only that one...

Jewel, you saw the pony at the show, was it the color of Up up and Away ( like the ebay pic) or the reddish color like the top pic there?

Actually I believe that is the same guy. and I bet he did get it restored. you can tell. The symbol is too shiny. It shouldnt look like that. also you can tell by the hait color as well. Anyway, I doubt anyone will win it. but we will see.

The more I look at the body color, the more I wonder... I mean what are the chances of that.. but it did look more reddish at the Fair. Then again the light wasn't great in there...... :headscratch:

Well this certainly got interesting.... That guy does sound like a jerk. How unfortunate. What some people will do for money. I wonder if anyone will actually win the auction? I kinda hope no one does, just to save them the trouble of dealing with that guy. Thanks for putting pics up! I couldn't seem to figure out how to get them! =)

I used my photobucket to put up the photos.

All very odd........

I think If I was buying that, Id be wanting to look inside the head for sure.....

I notice too from the auction that the pony isnt located in Columbia but in the USA. ( least shipping wont cost the earth)

I guess we wont know if its real for sure until someone actually buys it......... Im hoping it is.....

This seller has already been dishonest........ lets hope his dishonesty extends no further than the episode with SoSilver mentioned earlier in this thread.

The story is that his girlfriend/partner lives in Columbia and goes hunting for these ponies and they sell them together, or something like that. So yes, they're in the US, but from Columbia... confusing though.

I really doubt anyone's going to pay that insane reserve though.. I mean Columbians are rare, but come on! :p

from this thread it says that this is the second of this pony to be found.
i suppose its still possible that it could have been touched up but it is not necessarily the one that was at the fair

Colombian Pony

EDIT:
i found this thread from when he found the one in worse condition
and it says "sold" as of March 31st.... so when was the fair again?

isn't that prototype baby up for sales again on ebay too? or is this also a new one or didn't it sell last time?

fishy, fishy.

eta: the eyes looks very different on those two pics, also the new one seems to have a rub of pen or something above his eye. i wouldn't add marks on him if i tried to make him look a little better :p but still, it's weird.

differences i spot

quality killed it, but you see there if you look at the bigger pics that one green dot is gone

maybe he got someone to restore it for him. i know he has asked about getting those rare babies restored. he was interested in getting a prototype one restored so it could be complete and thinking it would sell more, but we told him not to, it would devalue the pony being one of a kind. i know he has also found a blue version of this pony but it already belonged to a little girl in columbia. it is possible he found 2 pink versions and decided to restore the more baity version. also most sales take a while for him cause he has a payment plan, so it must take the buyer a few months to pay the pony off before he mails it out. that could be why he is posting some of his ponies again on ebay, the buyer probably couldnt afford it anymore. thats my two cents on this.

yes exactly, i'm starting to think it's the one worse off, the one that was at the fair. since noone seems to own him?? are there any confirmed buyers of the boys? i guess he'd be 'better' off restoring the one in worse condition?

I'm not sure there are confirmed buyers for quite a few of the Columbians? I remember reading Lars saying he would respect the privacy of his buyers which I can understand but you do have to wonder if some have never sold. I've only seen a few like the AJ that caused the whole sorry mess being bragged about and I've seen one or two other for resale. I have no idea how many collectors in the community have access to the sort of funds he wants for these ponies? you are talking serious $$$ and some are so flawed (I'm not keen on the smeary eyes on some of the babies).

Whilst they are amazing finds if I was ever lucky enough to have the money for a Columbian I'd only be buying form somebody with a well established trading name in the community. I would not feel comfortable sending that amount of money to anybody who is only in it for the money which is the case here. I've only just caught up on the thread at the Arena and it's a sorry old mess IMO :-(

Also if I bought a pony that said it was orginal and it was infact rehaired and had symbol touch ups I'd be seriously livid. It would be bad enough if it was a common but to spend that much money on a restored super-rare pony I'd be :taz:I hope the buyer ends up with a pony they are very happy with and gets a nice smooth transaction :D
