Wow, a lot moves when I sleep hehe
imo the pony looks restored. The mane and tail (especially the tail) just doesn't seem right.

Yeah I didn't realize how big of a thing this was gonna be... *keeps reading*

I didnt think this would be big either...

but seriously, you think there is 3 Mr.Pinks??? I find that hard to believe, and also he seems sketchy. I hope he isnt ripping people off with there money, and reselling these ponies!

okay, so yesterday I emailed him on ebay and told him I know its been restored. and this is his reply.

You are correct: I do not think I am fooling anyone....
I do not.. I am incapable of restoring a pony.
You obviously are not a true experienced collector to not know the difference. In the least you should request pictures more detailed before you make judgements....

Hmmm... he is seriously sketchy.

HE'S incapable of restoring a pony but OTHER people aren't... I like how he dodged that question...Not cool.

Lars PM'ed me out of the blue one day at the Arena to see if I restored ponies because he had some he wanted done. He told me to email him for details, so out of curiosity I did, but never heard back from him.

Columbian ponies typically have not had shiny symbols. However, touched up and sealed symbols CAN BE shiny. Based on what he's lied about before, I'd be willing to bet this pony has been restored, and the hair left messy to make it look unrestored, but I can't prove it, and for $1350 reserve I can't prove it. I know he's claimed to have found 2 of these boys, and the other looked considerably worse, but I don't know who bought it or where it ended up.

And, has anyone PM'ed lars about restoring this pony? He's complaining at the Arena that he's been directly accused of restoring this one.

WOW! What NERVE he has! Claiming YOU aren't an expeienced collector? Like he has ANY experience collecting? All he knows how to do is overcharge for baity ponies. Really nice, lars, really nice. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is turned off by your bullcrap. Besides, you've already proved thet you're perfectly capable of asking people to restore ponies. I DO still have that PM you sent me.

Lyricalstar, what was your question to him, that he turned nasty like that?

And to clarify, by "community," I just meant collectors in general, not any specific board. ;)

EDIT: How funny, I just found a thread at the Arena wherein a well-known customizer was looking for hair matches for this pony using one of the very pictures in this thread...

My Little Pony Arena » Forums » Creativity » Customs » Hair colors please

The fact that no one could agree on a haircolor match could explain the discrepancies between the baity one and the nice one...

EDIT 2: God this is getting weirder and weirder. Bolding is mine, all are quotes from larry.

Larry claims never to have restored a pony BUT:

Please know I have never ever altered..or restored any feature on any pony... I have some origional supplies.

I have offered a 3rd pony free; the star baby (along with replacement hair for the cut main)...

Would you be willing to re-root if I provided the hair? Is it possible to purchase origional replacement MLP hair... factory origional? Where can I purchase and how much would it cost for the hair and the work?

Mmmm let me think... devalue a pony that I can purchase on ebay auction for $10??

Not much to de-value here....

For the sake of argument; where can one purchase factory origional MLP hair?

Thanks,
Lars

AWFUL lot of interest there for restoring a pony. TO SELL FOR MORE MONEY I might add.

Ok that just confuses me... the first line it sounds like he's admiting to restoring it, but then the rest he sounds defensive like that's an impossibility....

I think lyricalstar probabaly phrased her question somewhere along the lines of, "You're not fooling anyone with this restoration," or something. What exactly did you ask him, lyricalstar?

This just keeps getting weirder and weirder. I honestly don't trust him at all.

wow. I am mesmerized by this thread. I had no idea it was going to turn into this when I was just looking for information. Someone should pull his ebay auction for deliberately lying, but I suppose it is hard to prove like you said Skeen.

it will be interesting to see if his reserve even gets met.
if so, i'd love to hear what the buyer says about him if they are a member here.
i'd love to get my hands on a mr. Pink myself, but i'd rather have one in bad condition than restored if i was going to pay a leg and a lung

The pony at the fair was definitely PINK. Jewel's pic makes him look rather orange, but he wasn't.

If Mr Pink (I love his nickname ;) ) is restored then obviously he had to get somebody to do it for him because he wouldn't have the knowledge . . . I wonder if that person is in the communit and if so what they think seeing an auction for a pony they have worked on being sold as not restored?

I'm sure if it was some random community member they're in on the whole thing, else they would have come forward already, don't you think? I know if I had done the work I'd be raising **** about it already!

Very little good ever comes of a member who is not a pony collector but in it for the money.
it's too bad. Personally I don't think columbians are very special, though I admit I like the first tooths.

Who knows how this will end up, it looks restored to me... I am almost sure we won't get it out of lars though. I want to know how rare Columbians really are though. We are not there... He seems to find a lot of them for one person- I haven't found that many G1s stateside. And the prices are still so high. It's just too bad he has such high reserves... I dunno! I've only seen two instances of columbians being sold, one at the fair and the applejack fiasco.

Oh I'm sure they'd be unhappy I really meant I hope it's not somebody who's not very active on the boards or who hasn't seen the Ebay listing :D I noticed on the Arena people seem pretty sure there's a few of him . . . I'm a bit surprised a boy would be turning up so often. In the US you'd be more likely to be coming across Peachy, Lemon Drop, Majesty etc not Chief or Quarterback?

Maybe Emberley's right and they are not even rare there? As Emberley said we're not there maybe they are everywhere lol

WOAH. All I can say is WOAH. Soo cool!

Suddenly I am reminded of the 'Baby Paddleball' eBay auctions of something like 10 years ago.

For those who don't know about this one- a newborn baby pony appeared. The seller claimed that it was a rare Eurpoean varient or something of that nature. It was white with curly blue hair and had a red and yellow paddleball for a symbol. It sold for several hundred dollars. For five or Six-hundred, I think.

Collectors weren't sure what to make of it. It didn't look quite right. The seller didn't seem to know English very well (so he/she said), so getting any answers was difficult.

Suddenly the seller made another one appear a few weeks later. Two rare ponies! What were the odds?!

Then someone noticed something... The head and body color didn't match up. Even the vinal used in the head and body didn't look identical. Someone who didn't get to see the first auction said 'Hey! I have the pony! It's a fakie. I have one MOC. Here's a pic!"

Yep. Fakie. Different head and hair.

The seller was called out on it. The seller feined ignorance. Said he/she found the ponies that way! Kept swearing it until the end.

This whole thing kinda reminds me of that experience. Auctions that look legit at first glance. Collectors need to follow their gut feeling.

BTW- the whole US/ Columbia relationship thing this seller talked about reminds me of buying anime related merchandise off eBay. It may list the seller in the UK, AU or US- but surprise! The return address for your package is in Hong Kong.

This whole thing smells like three day old fish to me.

I heard some people say that he didn't like people to take pics of his ponies at the fair. I wonder if this is why. Maybe he didn't want any evidence of what they looked like before.

Maybe not though. It's just a thought.
