Do you have a difficult time deciding whether to sell/trade your duplicate ponies? And if you do decide to sell/trade, do you have a difficult time deciding which one to keep?

I notice I'll have random moments where I decide I only want to have one of each pony in my collection...so I'll start weeding out the duplicates...but then I start getting stressed out b/c I can't decide which one to keep!

"This one has a better symbol, but this that one has silkier hair, but that one has a good body color..." etc. etc.

And in the end I decide to keep them all!! (

"Oh, they're all cute, it doesn't hurt to have more than one..." blah blah blah

Then the cycle repeats itself a couple of days later.
Sometimes I think I waste too much brain energy on this....haha. :sleep9:

I usually keep everything, but if I had to pick only one... I would always choose body color over good hair or symbols.
Scratched symbols can be repainted, and icky hair can be replaced... but what can you do about a discolored body?

I always get rid of my doubles, except when one of them is a gift from someone or from a swap. Then I keep both of them if the other one is nicer. If the gift one is nicer, I keep only that.

For me hair matters the most... or ... it's more about a "display factor" like some ponies just look good even if their hair is not perfect or their symbols are not.

I first started weeding out ponies when I realised that I was quickly running out of space in my room. I found it hard to decide which ones to sell and which to keep, but I worked it out in the end. There are certain ponies I'd never sell (all my old childhood ponies, for instance), but it's okay with others. I find that it's nice to sell ponies here or over at the Arena, where I can be sure they'll be part of someone else's herd, someone who'll appreciate them. I'd never sell on eBay, though. Who knows what those people do to their ponies?

oh i so so have this problem, espeshally when im looking and thinking, oh this is lighter or darker or diffrent lol, I have about 6 poseys because of this.... and skywishes too! even down too, one has a contry name on the bottom of her foot, to another doesnt, or maybe diffrent colour eyes!

I did sell a lot of ponies a few years back, and i was ruthless, even selling the babys from my childhood colection, i wish I hadnt now....

I absolutely have this problem! Mostly because I will have a childhood pony, and then a nice minty duplicate of it! Of course I wont get rid of the childhood one- but cant hurt to have a nice one on display too, right?

I do the same reason for getting rid of duplicates because someday I know someone out there will want that pony. Thats why im so happy to trade with people on here. I also would keep the body color pony because it was nicer and replace the hair if the hair was manky or dried out.

I've been thinking about this, too. I have two Applejacks (both very nice!), three Sundances (one with a brown stain on her back, the other two quite lovely), two of Majesty (one with cancer on her nose, the other with mismatched head and body), two Dancing Butterflies (though that's no problem- one' much nicer than the other!) and two Fireflys (Fireflies?).

Firefly's giving me the most trouble. One has almost perfect symbols but a few light stains on her body; the other has a really nice body but more symbol rubs (still pretty decent, though). Both have lovely hair. :/

I don't have any doubles that are worth a lot anyway, so I'm OK with keeping doubles in the closet for a while (I don't have room to display one of every pony, never mind doubles!)

I have a couple of duplicates hanging around. I'm planning on selling them though as most of them are baity. I have before given my best friend duplicates (One was from me accidently buying the same pony twice from different sellers. XD)

I remember once grabbing a G3 Cotton Candy even though she's a duplicate as she had her pony charm, but now I'm not sure about selling my first one as she was one of my early bootfair finds.

I keep doubles that are obviously different- like I have a pink Tiddleywinks and a more purple one, and a Posey with magenta tulips and one with pink tulips. Also, an Italian Moondancer and a HK one... those I keep because the difference is obvious. Otherwise I pick the best one and sell or trade the other.

Boy, it sure sounds like lost of collectors have this problem. I thought I was in the minority, but I fit in this category too!

Check out my proof: http://www.mlptp.net/forums/mlp-discussion/67141-fun-post-duplicate-decision.html

Yeah, and it's been... over a year now and I still have all 3 Parasols, and both Milkyways. I've even bought more duplicates! I bought a duplicate Seaflower, Powder, and a duplicate Hula Hula at the fair, and upgraded my Seabreeze and ... I still have not gotten rid of the other Seabreeze!

But I'm really running out of space now. I really need to choose. But here's my other dilemma- when friends come over, they bring their kids, and I do not really want them touching my display ponies even though I let Vesper play with them twice now... I need a bait/play bin so they will leave mine alone. That won't take up too much space, however.... hopefully!

Same problems here. It's an illness I tell you, chronic and persistent - it has NO CURE!
