It seems as collectors, there's always something to be done, be it dusting, organizing, selling, shipping, or buying!

I want to hear what's on your current pony "to do" list!

Here's mine:

Short term list

~Finish checking off G2s that I own in the new G2 Inventory by Summer.

~ Update Wishing Well post

~ Measure pony art, and pick up frames for the art.

Long term list

~ Fix my KLECT.com site page. I bulk-added instead of adding one-by-one, and accidentally saved a whole bunch of ponies as mint condition, when they're just good. I need to fix that and update with details about where I got them, and for how much.

~ Photograph ponies individually for my photobucket account. I used to do this religiously- every time I got a new pony I'd fix her up and take a photo for my photobucket account, but I'm totally backlogged for the past 2+ years!

~ Organize trades/sales and come up with "play bin" for when kids come over

~ Dust!

~ Fix ponies' hair! I have lots of ponies with horrible hairdos that need to be fixed!

~ Leave feedback for people here!

~ Merge Inventory into Spreadsheet, update with pictures. (Idea from DialgaBrite'sMom, thanks!)

~ Update pony count (how many I have!)

~ Start on MLP Song website! (Honeycomb's Harmony Hive! LOL)

~ Organize computer files with pony pictures... this should take a while!

:wow1:That's a lot! But honestly, I probably have more that I need to do that I'm forgetting at the moment!

What's on your list?

1. work on a custom for a friend then ship it.

2. cleaning poines

3. reassemble everyone

4. think of what customs to work on next.

I want to take pictures of my collection once I have a hundred ponies. I'm almost there! : D

Then look for some bait so I can finally begin customizing ponies! X3

I have about a dozen ponies that have to be cleaned, but since we're moving houses at the moment, I really haven't got the time. Once I'm all settled in, I'm planning to take new pics of the individual sets. The last time I did it was after Christmas, and I've bought quite a few ponies since.

Short-term
1. Take pictures of the ponies that just came in the mail
2. Avoid buying any more ponies until next month
3. Find better way to store "mini-collection" of ponies in my closet

Long-term
1. Get a picture of my complete Pinkie Pie army
2. Catalog my ponies
3. Determine which should be sold
4. Buy a DVD version of My Little Pony: the Movie (my childhood copy is a VHS, but I don't own a VCR)
5. Actually move my collection from my mother's house to my apartment (need shelves first)

eeek I have a lot on my pony to-do list and I'm probably gonna forget a few things as I type it out.

Short Term
Sculpt hair on a few custom McD ponies (one down! :) 6 to go... :( )
Finish customs for: DialgaBrite, josiekat, ristvak, Obscuria, my sister
Make some customs I can sell
Organize loose ponies floating around my room
Gather ponies to sell
80's pony for contest

Long Term
Finish Pets and Ponies Pageant!!!
Work on my wishlist
Finish custom for my niece
Fix ponies' hair
Reorganize my custom drawer
Go pony hunting at the thrift store.
Work on pony website!

Haha, oh, man, I have "to dos" backed up from my very first online pony purchase from Drusilla back in 2003! Mostly they are just rehairs. I'll get 'em when I get there.

But for right now:
* Finish slandgrave's custom (should be finished tonight if I manage not to burn myself.)
* Finish the 80's contest pony.
* Get the Summer ATC Swap wrapped up.
* Make my super secret custom for myself.
* Conquer Ponyland.

Maybe we can put the last one in my long term goals. It'll take me a while to make my army.

Clean the mountain of thrift store ponies in the back room...and that's pretty much it.

I've got a lot of ponies to list on EBay. I'm justing waiting on a small G3 lot I bought on Ebay Aust to arrive as there's a couple in there that have to go in the lot.

Update my PB account with photos of the new arrivals.

Update my accessory spreadsheet because I've gotten quite a lot of combs and brushes lately.

Dust the kids as they haven't been done in awhile (I try to do them everyweek but I'm been too busy to get around to them :|

My pony to do list is so long. In addition to the continual to-dos for MLPNews, I've got about 200 ponies, several playsets, and I don't even know how much merchandise, to clean, fix, photograph, and catalog. I need to create a wishlist and a trade list. I'm working on creating display boxes too. I need to put up more shelving somewhere to hold all this stuff. And I want to start making custom ponywear. Yeah, totally overwhelming, I just keep reminding myself, one thing at a time.

Oh my, this could get scary!

Short Term:

1. Finish my pony for the Mc Donalds Custom Swap.

2. Finish the two commissions I have left from the fair. Both ponies are almost done and I should have them shipped this week.

3. Flock and style the baby customs I made for my wedding cake topper.

4. Finish my pony for the Tim Burton Custom Swap at the Arena
*To do this I need to place a hair order with Dollyhair*

5. Work on my trades with Jupi and babystargazer (although right now I'm waiting on the baits set after being dyed).

6. Create a Sales Thread for the So Soft customs and plushies that did not sell at the MLP Fair.

Long Term:

1. At any given time, I probably have about 12-15 or more customs that are WIP.... I really need to finish some of them before I take on anything else. Luckily, the projects are all for me.

2. Edit my Photobucket account! I have pictures of all my ponies, but I think only about half of them are actually uploaded and placed in the correct album.

3. Play around with the KLECT site and add in details about my collection.

ETA: 4. Build my DA account! I signed up weeks ago, and have not added one thing yet!

-Finish photo-ing and pricing ponies and misc items I plan on selling on the TP soon!! It's been so long that I've sold, but I remember how much fun it was.

-I also bought a shelf to put the few G1s I have on. Still need to do that. They are all sitting in FRONT of the shelf.

-Start cleaning, grooming, photo-ing, and posting the massive lot of G3 ponies that I plan on selling on eBay. I remember THAT was lots of fun too!!

I have an elderly sick ferret that I'm nursing, so hopefully I can get some things done when I can.

Ah ha, I get it. This is a "goals" thread to keep us honest. :) LOL

So much to do...

  • Clean up small batch of ponies that came with our Craiglist Paradise Estate find
  • Create a well-lit, CLUTTER FREE working space to mess around making customs out of a bunch of ideas in sketch book (including maybe the 1980s contest). I'm tired of seeing them on paper only... but I need a designated clutter free zone for crafting (that dosen't have to be cleared off all the time for other more mundane projects such as having dinner haha) in order to work with any focus. :(
  • Continue to fill in the Excel spreadsheet I created as a back up "system" in case something ever happens to KLECT. (Yeah it's kind of double the work, but it goes quickly. When you're having fun...). Long term: take pictures of each of my ponies and add it to my excel sheet so there's a pic on record of the *actual* pony in the collection. :)
  • Find the few items from Paradise Estate that didn't come with the Craigslist bonanza without getting sidetracked by other ponies and merchandise that belong on the wish list but didn't know it until right that moment.
  • Avoid ebay...
  • STICK TO A BUDGET darn it :RotCol:
  • Make a pony cake with the pony pan I got from Inglemist a few *months* (!!!) ago.
  • VERY long term: create a place where we can display our ponies not just lined up on shelves but in vignettes or as one big play-withable Planet Pony--but this would have to be in the basement, which makes me hesitate. This might be do-able because it would get most of the ponies and castles and Estates and Stables out of our living areas, which would make hubby sooooo happy. :)

Oh boy, this totally cracked me up. We have plans to create an entertainment center around our living room fireplace (hopefully by the end of this year) which will include some new shelving. I'd been thinking of it as pony shelving, but clearly my husband was not on the same page.

me: It'll be so nice to have a space to display some of my pony playsets...
hubs: No. No ponies in the living room.
me: But, but...
hubs: No.
me: Then can I move the stuff on the dining room shelves there and have ponies in the dining room?
hubs: No.
me: Then where am I supposed to put the ponies.
hubs: Why can't they just stay in their boxes?
me: grrrr....
hubs: When we have kids you can put them up in the kids room.
me: These are collectibles - a lot of it won't really hold up to playing with anymore. If I can't put ponies on the new shelving, what do you want to display there?
hubs: I dunno
me: Well, can it be ponies until you figure that out?
hubs: I suppose...
me: Yay!

Ahh man, there are some good ideas on these lists! I knew this would be a fun read, and that' I'd also get some laughs and ideas of my own! Oh joy, I get to add more stuff to my to do list! Hehe, but you know what? It's a fun to do list!

PP Thing, haha, let me tell you! Taking pictures early really helps. I would be so overwhelmed if I had 100 ponies to photograph. Wait, I think I do have about that many that need photographing, LOL! Good luck on the road to 100!

Short-term

2. Avoid buying any more ponies until next month
PrincessPP, This is exactly what I'm trying to do this month.. and I should really do it for the next 2 months because I'm thinking about joining in on the Halloween swap this year and I want to save up. Thanks for the reminder! Good luck to you this month on holding back! Got a plan of action? I'm thinking about printing out a picture of a good looking halloween swap box from last year to keep me motivated!

Classic ladyphoenix! You're always good for a laugh! And good luck on your list! Oh, and good luck on rallying the troops!

Lucky Xayide! Wish I had a mountain of thrift store ponies, even if it meant I had to clean them all!

Dust the kids as they haven't been done in awhile (I try to do them everyweek but I'm been too busy to get around to them :|

:leekguitar:Every week? Wow, I wish I were as dedicated as you! I need to start actually doing that more often. Got any tips on good dusters that don't wreck ponies' hair? Also, got any good techniques? Do you pick them up and dust or just run it over them?

I have an elderly sick ferret that I'm nursing, so hopefully I can get some things done when I can.
Awww, I hope your ferret will be feeling better soon with your aid.

Ah ha, I get it. This is a "goals" thread to keep us honest. :) LOL

So much to do...

  • STICK TO A BUDGET darn it :RotCol:

This is something else I need to do, but actually I'd like to spend as close as possible to $0 this and next month!

__

Oh, and good news! I shipped out the prizes for the Who's That Pony contest, so that's one "to do" that's now off my list! YES!

Thanks for posting, everyone! Hope this helps you guys keep track of what you need to do. Feel free to bump it up with updates or a new list. I know I will! :ducky:

My plan of action is: before I hit "buy" or send a purchase-ful PM, I pause and imagine my husband sadly shaking his head at me. XD It's been working out pretty well! (Although I think your swap box inspiration picture sounds like a nice one, too!)

I've been ridiculously tempted to "finish off" my collection now that I'm more active in the hobby again, even though that's not really possible and includes lots of $$$ ponies that I shouldn't be buying for a while. :x I still have to pay for my guinea pig's surgery AND I know my tuition will be due soon~ I need a slap on the wrist for even thinking about buying more ponies right now!

Good luck with saving up! I think the Halloween swap sounds like lots of fun--a perfect excuse to save. ♥

Hehe to the image of your disappointed hubby! That would work for me too! Might have to try that!

I know the feeling- I can think of a million things I really should be doing with my money, but I always have that "Need Pony" feeling in my head that I have to quiet somehow.

Thanks, good luck saving to you too!

Cleaning. No really I have my 'bait/double/cleaning' box in the bottom of my wardrobe and it's almost spilling over. (I tried counting and gave up at 80...)

Urm, sorting through there and weeding out who I want to sale, I have a few baits and doubles that need new homes.

And, photographing everyone would be pretty good as well.
