I think they were just running out of ideas, and having a toy or other children’s item named after an alcoholic drink wasn’t as frowned upon in the ’80’s. For instance, in the ballet, the nutcracker, they often have mint juleps danced by 5-7 year olds, and jelly belly had pina colada flavor as well as some other candies. While I agree that I don’t particularly care for the names, I don’t think they were meant with any ulterior motive. Kinda of like crayons… I really don’t think they meant to be racist by having a crayon called ‘nude’ back in the ‘80’s. I know it doesn’t make it right and glad things have changed, but fact is, what was considered acceptable now is far different than what was acceptable back then.
