No mushrooms in Chicago :( At least not around here, not a lot of organic anything XD but I did go look!
I'm going to have to come up with something epicly sneaky and hope for quarter points :p

well, i only found one mushroom and it was on a stick. now it is way to dark to hunt for them. I just want to add that mushroom hunting is for the spring not fall. this one is pure evil!! :icon_evil: i guess i will have to get sneaky points.

It depends on what region you are in, but mushrooms do not just come out in the spring, and they are definitely not just hunted for in Spring. In my area, it's a traditionally autumnal affair, as it is in many other places.

Mushroom hunting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A few quotes from that website,

"There is a tradition of going to hunt mushrooms as a family or group in the fall, after the rains marking the end of the summer season."

"Mushroom picking has become so popular in certain parts of the world that it has been publicized through mushroom festivals. The festivals are usually held between September and October, depending on the mushrooms available in that particular region."

Of course we don't all live in the same climate, so while some are tripping over mushrooms, others might be pulling their hair out trying to find one, LOL!

Good luck everybody! :2232:

I was at my parents' house before choral society rehearsal, and my sister found some for me. I took pics, but I'm headed to my brother's tomorrow to see if he has better ones. *lol* That sounds funny. I have to see if my brother has better mushrooms.

Mom and Dad's neighbors used to get those big, bright red ones with the white spots in their yard, but those are really poisonous. I can't remember what they're called.

Well, i did research and here in Nebraska the only mushroom festival is in April and/or May. It is to cold here, it snowed the other day, the last time i saw a mushroom in the ground was the end of august.
The only mushroom information for Nebraska i found was all about spring through summer.

"Spring is the season for gathering wild mushrooms. Here's how to find them…and cook them. This story—with more recipes—appears in our March/April 2004 issue. " From Nebraska Life | Nebraska Life Magazine

And the great mushroom hunt is held in April every year.

I am sure it is easier for those who live in the south where it is warm and humid.

I hope you all have better luck than me, i am ok with my sneaky points.

It’s all about the challenge of the hunt. Some steps/bonuses will be easier for others and harder for some. It’s a contest so there has to be some effort/creativity involved or everyone would win. 75% for grocery mushrooms is still good points.

Remember that the steps and bonuses will get harder as the hunt goes on! You guys are doing great!
:ghost2:

I finally found some over at my moms house! Yea!! I had already bought some and thought that I was going to have to use those but then my mom let me know that she still had some around her house. So I made a little hat for baby Northstar with the store bought one! :)

I'm headed over to the local park for a half hour. I can't stay longer due to having to be at work by 1 EST.

What a success! There were two parks I could have gone to. I caught the first bus that came and went to that park. Walked into the trees and nearly stepped on these tiny mushrooms. How perfect!

Yeah, there were still some there. Not big but there were some!
I had taken some pictures of the girls in front of the computer with a huge mushroom on the screen just in case I couldnt find a real one.

Sorry again about the siggy. When I upload at work I'm doing it in a hurry & for getting until after the fact. Is there a way in edit to take the siggy off once its on?

starrby I know it was really hard for me where did you end up finding yours? I am also in Michigan~! Flint township right next to the city we did have woods behind the house but they have been tore down over the last two-three years to build houses poor woods. we used to have so many deer and now you never see any at all =(

My husband watered the lawn real good for me last night and still no luck. I wish I was still living in Austin, it's been nice and wet there, here it has been too cool and just drizzly. My husband even drove all over town trying to find mushrooms for me, and in the process forgot to go to the grocery store. *sigh* Lady Luck is definitely not on my side at the moment.

I live a couple miles outside Detroit. I was lucky enough to find one in my own backyard. If I hadn't I would have gone to my old elementary school...there's a few acres of woods and a trickle of what I believe is the Rouge River behind the buildings. ^_^

Awe i just got out of bed to take my mushroom pic and its closed :( i hate being sick

I had a really hard time finding a mushroom! Bebe Fifi and I went off in search of mushrooms:
