So, I'm pretty new to collecting, but as I'm from the Netherlands I have seen a few dutch ponies floating around on second-hand dutch websites. Today I saw someone bid 60 euros (and counting) on a G1 baby schoolpony with its original comb. This same day I also found a dutch heart pony going for about 85 euros. I looked on ebay and there were a few offers for dutch ponies for 200 dollars or more!
I really want to collect these ponies because they're from my country (and their names sound really funny to me). But my question is: are they really that rare?
I feel like I have seen at least 2 original dutch ponies at the thrift store before (no, I didn't pick them up sadly). And from what I've seen, a fair few people seem to own at least one of them on this forum. Why are they going for such crazy prices? Are there only a few?
If you know anything about this, own a dutch pony, or know how much of them were made I would really appreciate it. I'm curious about why they are such a phenomenon.
