G5 G5 Chatter

Okay. I finally broke and watched it. I'm going to need to add Izzy and zipp brushables to my wishlist.
izzy is the new pinkie, right? I’m gu that the lore is they’re all descendants of the mane six. Also, can we just call zipp they/them?

Oh, definitely!
Me too on the brushables haha
No, they referred to Zipp as a she a good number of times in the movie. c: Though I've been reading the G4 "season 10" comics as of yesterday and there's a they/them character there. I love Zipp rockin' the La Roux look though, personally!

Saw a couple of rainbow haired Sunny Starscouts and a lone Moonbow today. Still no Trailblazer. Rainbow haired Sunny has some crappy, cheap-feeling hair.

I was wondering if one of the pegasus guards might be non-binary (though of course androgynous doesn't automatically equal nonbinary or vice versa.) The one who wasn't named Thunder. I don't think we ever got a name.

I hope the main characters don't turn out to be related to the Mane Six. I hated the twist in Star Wars where they were like, "And heeeere's the famous character Rey's related to! We can't have anyone in this franchise who isn't related to one of these six people!"

I can imagine Twilight choosing friendship over immortality and saying she cannot rule without her friends' support. I haven't seen FiM all the way through or read Season 10 comics yet so I'm not sure what happens I then end. I'm actually in the process of rewatching and continuing where I left off years ago. I think I only got up to finishing series 4 last time before 5 came out...
Me too I'm on season 4 so I'm coming from the same perspective

Did Green Guard ever get a name and symbol?

ETA: Someone told me he did get a name. Its Thunder, that's a good, simple, horse name.

I guess this is "tell" more than "show" but I'm super excited! Girl Scouts released a licensed "fun patch" and free activity booklet (PDF download) based on the movie. It looks like it's a printed patch and it has Izzy and Sunny. I just ordered for all my girls :)

kinda jumping in here - anyone actually prefer the action figure style of the new line? To me, it is sorta reminiscent of the switch from G1 to G2 but they gave up the brushable hair? I guess it maybe goes along with more a boys and girls play kind of toy so more a lego-appeal these days? I hope that there are a ton of characters produced at least and not the blindbag teeny tiny ones as admittedly I did love how G3 brought on so many new ponies. So yeah, I have yet to finish FiM as a show. I was happy to see the comeback of MLP even though on the toy front the main six was an absolute bore. I haven't yet bought any of the new gen as i am still trying to figure if I want to add them to the herd as I really mostly only have G1 and G3 but I did finally add in G4s so ... maybe. Just I would have loved if all the G5 had brushable hair, not just molded

Aww he looks nice with the gray feathers and green tail. Now where's his symbol at Hasbro?

The simplicity of the symbol doesn't bother me. It seems a bit like G2 in that regard, and might mean that the whole "cutie marks" aspect of ponies will be a very minor detail or not even addressed at all, which is ok. It's been played to death at this point. And we got along fine without cutie mark plot points in G1.

Having it be only on one side does seem stingy on Hasbro's part, though.

Are they so poor in the future that they can only afford one butt mark?
Sadly, the pony economy took a dive during the G3 era, and never quite recovered.

True.

Yes, I agree with symbols not playing as large a part.

My only pet peeve is that in all cartoon series they’ve always had symbols on both rumps, it was always the toys that failed at depicting the same. Symbols were also always easily viewable in cartoons, until now. It’s a small bit pick but it’s something that had always been continuous of the MLP branding on tv/movies.
