I'm watching original MLP, the Bright Lights episodes and they're making me pretty uncomfortable :oops:
 
Episodes 2-4 were alright, but 1 was a bit sinister ^_^;

Michael Jackson/Prince pony comes to Pony Land and puts on a show, the baby ponies get all fangirly and the manager of the band is being a super duper creep about it. He offers them positions as backup singers/dancers and they go for auditions, get magically drugged and harassed/captured by the roadies. Typical pony peril, but the tone of that first episode was just especially sinister! :shock:

Yeah, Prince Pony was also from this grimy, depressing horse city. It looked like something you'd see out of a Don Bluth movie (which I am totally a fan of but very different atmosphere), not MLP. It had a happy ending and was overall an enjoyable arc, just felt a little bit darker compared to the other episodes I've seen so far.

Yeaa some of the episodes are pretty hardcore :rofl: G1 MLP is brutal lolol as was most 80s cartoons. If you look, the original Escape from Catrina had blood in it that has since been edited out. It was when a pony (maybe baby moondancer?) Bites Catrina, blood kinda splatters. Wait until you get to the big brother episode lolol its kinda like Taken but with ponies. :rofl: :rofl:
... oh no... guys.. now I can only think of Slugger as Liam Neeson bc he was so upset over his crush Buttons getting taken away.. :rofl: :rofl:

I never caught that! But it has been many years since I watched the TV specials. I was really upset that they edited a whole song out of Escape from Catrina on a DVD set I used to own. I couldn't figure why, either? Was it uncool that romance was implied between a large cat and a small reptile?

When you think about it, Rescue from Midnight Castle / Firefly's Adventure was pretty hardcore too, chaining ponies by their necks (they did this a lot, didn't they!) and transforming them into dragon-beasts. Of course my twisted little fantasy-driven kid heart loved it and was always getting my toys "captured." LOL
