What was Fiesta Flair supposed to be? Any pics?

A great example of how being politically correct can sometimes be much more insulting.

It's one of those darned if you do - darned if you don't situations. You put a recognizable ethnic character in the lot, and you get called out for stereotyping. You omit all characters that have cultural qualities, you get called out for racism for not being diverse enough. If people want to be offended, they'll find something to be offended about.
Well put! :)

](I have that annoying problem with Microsoft Word sometimes. You go to add something in an earlier spot, and it starts deleting the stuff after it as you type) so I just gave up and hoped people would understand my meaning. LOL clearly not. Sorry again.

Click the insert button, should sort it!![/quote]
Thanks for the tip! My father is a computer genious, and he still hates word. :D

No probs!! Its to easy to accidentally hit insert when hitting delete, I do it all the time. Took me forever to realise what I was doing!!

Now that everything else has been said, I believe Candy Apple may have been what came of Fiesta Flair.

http://www.ponytopia.com/2005-5/05_profiles/05_candy_apple.htm

I believe her hair is more red in real life, pardon my laziness for not wanting to run upstairs and check. I reccomend her as a base for a Fiesta Flair custom ^__^

Am I the only one who noticed that she switches colors halfway through that video? o_O

Oh good SMEG it gets worse than COLORS! ALL the Ponies in the Jamboree switch off at one point, and Pinkie Pie somehow gets Apple Spice's symbol. @__@ And ALL the pegs are wingless!

She is a normal doll that happens to be differently-abled.
*gags* i hate that euphemism. no, she's not "differently"-abled, she's disabled. her legs don't work. she is dis-able to use her legs. jeezus.

I really, realllllllly want Hasbro to make Halloween ponies. Maybe one named Pumpkin Spice or Pumpkin Pie or something harmless like that.
actually, one of the halloween ponies that was cancelled was named pumpkin tart. her symbol was a black cat in front of a moon, and she came with little cat ears and a bell around her neck.
they cancel halloween ponies but release bright night - i dont get hasbro
because christians are the majority religion in this country. it's wholesome and good for children to give them christian ponies, but ponies associated with a wiccan/pagan holiday are blasphemous and encourage satan-worship!

By the by, when I say that I think Hasbro did something for certain reasons I don't just "make it up out" of the blue to be whiney. I never treated my statement as a proven fact. It was an opinion based on evidence and observations of how Hasbro operates.

I chose to call people what they wish to be called, and people I have talked to have prefered this term.

I do not consider Fiesta Flair offensive, she just seems like a sad attempt to draw Dora viewers, but people are more upset about her because Hasbro pitifully drew her name, symbol, accent and possibly coloring all from mexican/latin culture in an attempt for attention. They don't do this with many ponies, so it seems to have stood out more and upset people.

I didn't weigh in on the first Fiesta Flare go around, but this is how I felt about her exactly. The only thing that I thought was borederline offensive about her was that she just seemed like a way for Hasbro to cash in on the popularity of Dora the Explorer, not promote acceptance of other cultures and nationalities.

Not that there's anything wrong with Hasbro as a company wanting to jump on a very hot bandwagon, but it seems like they went about catering to the growing Hispanic demographic in a very heavy-handed way, like they made Fiesta Flare the "token" Hispanic pony without really trying to flesh out a personality for her. Granted, she only had a few minutes of screen time in that short, but I think Hasbro could have done more with her before or since if they'd really wanted to create a character in her. (I'm of the opinion that a few people calling her a racist stereotype as the cause of her apparant demise is ludicrous. Ditto to the Halloween ponies.)

But really, it strikes me as weird that a pony would have an ethnicity at all. I mean, how exactly can an imaginary pastel horse be Hispanic to begin with? Then again, I'm bothered by the anthropomorphizing of G3 ponies in general, and race doesn't bug me nearly as much as opposable hooves.

Edited to corral paranthetical rambling. ^^;

chill out people

its a freakin pony on a freakin kids show,

so it has an accent, accents does not make a character a stereotype, and just because Dora is the most famous Latin kids character does NOT automatically make every other Latin kids character a knock-off.

Its a kids show,

with ponies

aimed at 5 year olds

some of you are reading into it WAY to freakin much
