how do you organize your ponies on display?

so im just now getting around to putting up shelves for all my ponies rather than have them stacked on every flat surface in my room LOL!!
so i was wondering how do you like to group them?

right now i have them divided by generations, country, and then my faveorites within the country/generation are at the top of the display. i also have put moms with babies.

but i was thinking of doing a color grouping
has anyone tried that??? please share PICS!!

i think it would be soooooo cool to have all Gens and Countries together according to body color and have it in rainbow order!!!!
i just imagine nightlight, tux n tails, and waterfire, dutch blues all together and it seem like it would be awesome!!
or how about argie confetti, hip holly, lightening, gypsy, baby applejack and 07 comicon all together??!!

but i just put up all my ponies and it took a while so im not sure if i wanna redo all of it

so how do you group yours?

I do mine by year and set, and then within the set however I feel. :)

My variants have their own section and are divided by country.
 
Hmmm when it comes to normal ponies, I tend to group them to poses, I mean that way they fit better on my shelf. I have all the pegs and unicorns togethers, and the babies/sea ponies at the bottom. The Wingers are sitting in front at the top with the pegs/big brothers.

I then have my special pony corner shelf. This is where I pop all the specials, like mail orders or UK exclusives etc.

Like I said the same poses together works best for me:)

hehe I'm surprised you don't store a box in the oven too...there's room for a few ponies in it!

I separate all my yellow ponies from the others. I keep them on this set of shelves:

I just happened to rearrange them again over the weekend since "new arrivals" are coming and needed to make more room so other color ponies sorta got the boot haha. I even made a special spot for Italian Sea Spray for when she gets here.
The other ponies, I don't really organize a certain way, other than groups without their yellow sisters :D
You'll rearrange your ponies again don't worry. Whatever you feel looks right is the best way.
Forgot to say the G3's and my lone G2 have their own special shelf as well on the opposite wall
 
well with mine i've basically got them seperated G1 G3 but in the G1s i set them up by familys (well my family pairrings) and through any other ones any place i got space ^^;

mine are in a kinda cronilogical order - then my g3's are just out how i think looks nice with a self for unis :D

But when I do I'm going to have a display case for the rare ones or my prized ones and the rest will be two diff groups, G1 and g3, organized by rainbow order.
 
I have my G1 ponies by pose it saves on space and I can put more in that particular row. Right now I got my pegasus's and unicorns poses on one area and the the earth ponies in two shelfs in another area. The only ponies I never went by pose are my merry go rounds I love them too much to break up the set in pose. :)
 
I usually have mine grouped by set, but the sets are in no particular order. I keep Mommies and babies together when I get both, and my families are together. I have a lot of babies set up with the nursery on a tv stand next to my desk (with some Strawberry Shortckaes, Megan and Sundance and Molly and Baby Sundance) My Princesses are near my piece of Dream Castle on the top tier of my desk and my Sparkle ponies are there too. Babies are in the front row of the top tier (they're short!) and my faves are looking over my keyboard, with my wingers behind them..

It's really pretty random.
 
Currently mine are "organized" in boxes-however organized that can be! I have no room for them at the moment! So ones that need cleaning and extra attention are in a rubbermaid container! Ones that are cleaned and had some pampering are in ziplock bags in another container. Doubles are in another box, then I just have random ponies sitting out everywhere- either they are drying, waiting to be cleaned, or I'm debating whether or not to sell them. Oh it would be so nice to have a shelf!!!!! =)
 
I love topics like these. Always get fresh ideas.

I group by sets, or I try to! Some shelves end up being random mixes, especially if I don't have many from a certain set.

I have shelves that I got at Big Lots, and risers on the shelves so I can fit in more ponies. Then I have a display cardboard thing for some of my MIB G3s, and then I display some ponies on/in the playsets.

I'm really boring I generally organise G1s by set and then by pose within the set. So in the rainbow Moonstone is next to Windy and then Parasol and Sunlight and so on. Individual ponies go whever they look good . . . or fit LOL

I have most of my UK adults together and the same for my non US babies, wedding ponies and the party pack ponies. I also have an Italian shelf, a Locket shelf and a shelf for the few G3 I haven't sold. A few of my ponies are homeless though because I'm waiting to organised another bookcase there just isn't room for everybody - poor babies ^-^

Mine are stampeding my computer desk right now, the ones that I am not really crazy about get moved to the bedroom where they are free-range on the dresser or random shelves, They are not really in any order, which is strange for my personality but I haven't really found a system that I like yet.

hahah!!! i got a great visual from "stampeding" and "free range" LOL!!

PL wow! love that purple velvet stuff, totally changes the look off the display! and look at all those minty SS ponies!!!!!! pooly of dooooooly!!!

ooh i just spotted brazil heartthrob! slowly turning green!!!

you know what i have realized since displaying them this week.....
i know am well aware of ponies that are missing fromo the set and i feel compelled to get them:
babies with no mommies especially!
