Time to get negotiating with some factories
Guest, The MLPTP's Fundraiser and Prize Giveaway will be returning on June 1st! Check out this thread for all the latest news!
This is great news, I never doubted that the project had stopped. I had wondered occasionally how it’s going so I’m glad to see an updateHello again pony friends! I know this project has been quiet but I’ve been working in the background and had a few developments! firstly, I’ve found some companies that produce custom toys in my country which will cut shipping costs massively and eliminate import fees! Secondly, I’ve been getting some business advice about approaching this correctly
I think the project needs a name, and I don’t just want to copy Clipper’s brand HQG1C so I was wondering if we have any suggestions?
I was thinking maybe ‘lost generation ponies’ or ‘90’s nostalgia ponies’ - I don’t know these aren’t great haha any suggestions?
OMG I LOVE this!!! Could I please have your permission to use this, with credit to you?G2-ReDo?
Ooh I hadn’t thought of a pun on the different lines. Can’t forget my favourite weird G2 names ‘Her Majesty ….’This is great news, I never doubted that the project had stopped. I had wondered occasionally how it’s going so I’m glad to see an update
I have thought what about something relating to their gems since that’s rather unique to G2’s? I thought ‘Dazzlebright Blanks’ but Dazzle Bright ponies are a G3 set…
Or a G2 sounding name, “Surprise” seems to come up frequently in the set names when I had a quick look but I’m not so sure how it’ll fit. “Magic Motion” comes up a quite a bit as well. Magic Blanks? Sounds strange
If I suddenly get any other names pop into my head I’ll put them here, I hope some others have suggestions too!
I too think this is a great suggestion!G2-ReDo?
Ooh a fellow Brit hello! Any help is appreciatedI don't know if I can at all, but I would love to help you with this in any way! I love making customs and wpuld love to be able to customise a G2! I am in the UK too.
Realistically a few months, between 3-6 months maybe? I was supposed to start a new job last month but it keeps getting delayed, and I want to make sure my project proposal and funding plan is sound, as well as making sure I have some spare money of my own to support the project, which isn’t possible right now until I get going in my new workplace@Grace Ruby how far away, realistically, do you think you are from the funding stage?
I definitely want to make sure I have funds set aside for this. Super excited
OK, just let me know how I can help. I have put funds aside for this, and I am SO pumped.Realistically a few months, between 3-6 months maybe? Thank you! I may ask for some community eyes on the project proposal soon to make sure it’s what everyone is hoping forOK, just let me know how I can help. I have put funds aside for this, and I am SO pumped.
I can maybe help in ways other than funds (you let me know), but anyways...
I hope the job is everything you want and more (and that it gets a move on)

Hi again, so sorry it has taken me so long to reply to this!OH HELLO. This thread looks FUN! I'm totally new to ponies it sounds like these may end up being made like traditional toys? You mentioned 3D modeling? Is there a way I can help, or help fund the project? (I've been 3D Modeling and 3D Printing BJDs! I'm also planning on making a G2 inspired BJD!)
How much do you need for startup? CAUSE I'M READYHi again, so sorry it has taken me so long to reply to this!
i’m definitely open to any input, enthusiasm is always appreciated. The biggest (basically only) obstacle to the project is the startup costs. Crowdfunding like a kickstarter seems to be the way forward but I also want a reserve of my own funds to invest into the project too.
I’m considering some smaller G2 inspired merch runs to raise money, potentially a stall at UK ponycon to tearfully sell off some of my duplicate ponies, as well as trying to save from my wages (not quite so easy during a cost of living crisis)
3d modelling is always super useful. I have a small bit of experience in modelling and my partner does it freelance (we’re both animators). I love dolls too and have printed a lot of doll accessories, but playing with the early 3d prints of the ponies was fun - even though unfortunately they weren’t viable as replica toys. Perhaps they’d make great high quality resin statues to sell though! And I have big dreams of all new G2 poses like laying down, sea ponies, wing styles, new accessories etc
so basically yeah! Welcome to this little niche, so excited you‘re here
also REALLY want to do an art trade with you when I’m not so busy at work
I am ready!!How much do you need for startup? CAUSE I'M READY
