Gingerbread's kitchen

There is always plenty of food, you just head right on over!

I held my annual wrapping party yesterday, bunch of girlfriends come over with their gifts and I provide wrapping supplies and yummy nibbles. We have a good time and get all our gifts wrapped. I concocted a gingerbread trifle for dessert that was inspired by the Gingerbread Oreos. It was a hit! I made a small gingerbread cake, diced it in cubes and layered it with crunched up gingerbread oreos, spruced up butterscotch pudding (added cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg) and whipped topping. I'm really digging these gingerbread oreos, I think they're going in my mini cheesecakes too later this month.

the rest of the menu was heavy hors d'oeuvres; mini quiches, ham rolls, sausage balls, spinach artichoke dip, a chilled dip with crackers, deviled eggs, cucumber tea toasts and bacon crackers. Lemme tell you about bacon crackers, I tried them as a new thing years ago and everyone went crazy for them so now bacon crackers are expected at all my functions LOL They are just club crackers with a bit of bacon on them covered in brown sugar and baked low and slow. Crackers get buttery and crisp from the bacon fat and sugar LOL they sound weird but everyone loves them. I also made a christmas party punch which I was excited to serve in my pretty new christmas punch bowl but forgot to take a picture of.

Next up, holiday baking starts this week! Stay tuned ;)

Once I am a couple years out from my surgery, I'm coming over for the holidays so I can test taste everything for you. Every year you really out do yourself my dear friend, it all looks so wonderful.

Ima hold ya to it!

Today has been my marathon baking day. I was off from work and I just didn't know when else I would have time so I decided to try to knock out all the treat baking. Pics tomorrow, this pony is beat! I might be getting too old to make this much stuff in one day *whew*

Of course!
Hmm, actually maybe I'm onto something. I'll feed you all in exchange for some pony room dusting :lolpony:

We need a yummy emoji because seriously, yum!

This year's holiday baking lineup; toffee pretzels, so much chex mix, my version of white trash, mini cheesecakes, fruitcake cookies, spritz cookies, pistachio shortbread, oreo truffles, peanut butter balls and rice krispie treats :)

save some of those peanut butter balls for me please :ponylove:
ever made ritz peanut butter cookies? i haven't but they are extremely delicious. two ritz crackers with peanut butter in the middle then dipped in chocolate (with/without toppings)

@Skybreeze it's sweet of you to cook even though you can't currently enjoy the fruits of your labor. I don't know if I'd be that noble LOL
and @Tak I believe it! I usually make my white trash in my big canning pot since it's such a large batch and I put the lid on and shake it all around to coat with the 10X sugar I let it sit for a minute but just taking the lid off everything becomes dusted with it. If it weren't so chilly I'd do that step outside!
@stjarne you got it! I know what you're talking about with the PB ritz crackers and those are delish! We call them hockey pucks. I haven't made them in a few years but I might have to put them back in rotation, I remember them being pretty darn good!

Tomorrow I start preparing for Christmas Eve and Day. Once I get off work tomorrow it'll be about 48 hours of cooking, eating, pajamas and Christmas movies!

As it should be!

I feel like the first 5 days off from work has been nothing but baking... With very little product to show for it. Clearly my efficiency was off this year.

Laissez les bons temps rouler

Haven't been doing much exciting in the kitchen lately, a birthday cake here, some beignets there but I let the dough roll Sunday. My King Cakes are a popular request so I made a few of them in preparation for Fat Tuesday. I just can't do store bought king cake, it's dry and awful. Mine is semi-traditional, homemade dough filled with a cinnamon cream cheese and pecans/brown sugar/butter. No dried fruit here! Raisins don't belong in my kitchen LOL

I can not wait for the day that I get to taste some of your delicious baked goodies. This looks so good, I’ve personally never had King’s cake (or beignets for that matter) so I would have nothing to compare to, but I’m sure yours is yummers. =P
