Guest, The MLPTP's Fundraiser and Prize Giveaway will be returning on June 1st! Check out this thread for all the latest news!
Once I am a couple years out from my surgery, I'm coming over for the holidays so I can test taste everything for you. Every year you really out do yourself my dear friend, it all looks so wonderful.I held my annual wrapping party yesterday, bunch of girlfriends come over with their gifts and I provide wrapping supplies and yummy nibbles. We have a good time and get all our gifts wrapped. I concocted a gingerbread trifle for dessert that was inspired by the Gingerbread Oreos. It was a hit! I made a small gingerbread cake, diced it in cubes and layered it with crunched up gingerbread oreos, spruced up butterscotch pudding (added cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg) and whipped topping. I'm really digging these gingerbread oreos, I think they're going in my mini cheesecakes too later this month.

the rest of the menu was heavy hors d'oeuvres; mini quiches, ham rolls, sausage balls, spinach artichoke dip, a chilled dip with crackers, deviled eggs, cucumber tea toasts and bacon crackers. Lemme tell you about bacon crackers, I tried them as a new thing years ago and everyone went crazy for them so now bacon crackers are expected at all my functions LOL They are just club crackers with a bit of bacon on them covered in brown sugar and baked low and slow. Crackers get buttery and crisp from the bacon fat and sugar LOL they sound weird but everyone loves them. I also made a christmas party punch which I was excited to serve in my pretty new christmas punch bowl but forgot to take a picture of.

As it should be!Tomorrow I start preparing for Christmas Eve and Day. Once I get off work tomorrow it'll be about 48 hours of cooking, eating, pajamas and Christmas movies!
I can not wait for the day that I get to taste some of your delicious baked goodies. This looks so good, I’ve personally never had King’s cake (or beignets for that matter) so I would have nothing to compare to, but I’m sure yours is yummers. =PLaissez les bons temps rouler
Haven't been doing much exciting in the kitchen lately, a birthday cake here, some beignets there but I let the dough roll Sunday. My King Cakes are a popular request so I made a few of them in preparation for Fat Tuesday. I just can't do store bought king cake, it's dry and awful. Mine is semi-traditional, homemade dough filled with a cinnamon cream cheese and pecans/brown sugar/butter. No dried fruit here! Raisins don't belong in my kitchen LOL
