New G1/G4 Mini Crossover Comic

I am looking forward to this. I don't have any comics I read regularly and as a mostly G1 fan didn't really get into the FIM too much but I would like to get these. Guess I gotta find me a comic book store before October LOL I'm interested to see what they do

Amazon will be selling them too apparently.

Im pretty excited for these. Anyone know for sure if these will also be available on the IDW app too by any chance?

I got the digital form of the comic thru iTunes so I could have it right away. I'm very disappointed in the comic already. Seeing the covers of the next two issues has me disappointed all over again

Also makes me sad seeing the next covers because it seems it will be a few more issues before the G1's would even show up, if they even show up It's so boring already and the dialog is annoying. I'll keep at it though until if/when Surprise shows up though dreading how they'll portray her -_- if the "daughters" are annoying, I'm fearing for the G1's...

Oh NO! Are you serious?! They still haven't even appeared by issue 3?! And of course the characters are annoying, because why wouldn't they be? IDW just seems to have a thing for taking the absolute worst traits of characters and exaggerating them for a misguided attempt at humor... I was so hoping they wouldn't get their dirty claws sunk too far into the writing here but... It sounds like they did?

I'm just guessing by the covers shown. I only have the first issue.

To me it feels like the second one is the daughters watching the "smooze ponies" doing what they told them to do and boring school stuff of them teaching wrong stuff to the students and so forth. The third looks like Twilight and the rest are not liking what's going on and spying on the new teachers. Then them trying to figure out where they came from and that's when they decide they need 'time dimensional help" and over simplify it like they did about the first issue and their Rat being able to chew thru 'TIME/SPACE STUFF"

It just feels like the people doing the comic would go down the cliché way I just described. Since them making Starlight Glimmer mention that they need more teachers cause their students tripled and that was half of the first issue I so hope that I'm WRONG about the next two issues cause then I might enjoy the rest of the comic.

I saw on the Arena that a description of the fourth issue mentions them working with the 'original ponies'..... Anyway that's all I can think of on these comics until the next one comes out, so all I'm doing is thinking what they could do that would be horrible boring cliché junk Like maybe by issue three Rainbow Dash finally confesses that she didn't send off her letter to where ever she was supposed to send it -.-

I'm not sure whether to be happy or scared that Queen Rosedust is included? I love the flutter ponies, I hope they actually keep her as a flutter pony. Could be interesting to see what they do with the art style.

As for Minty, G3 Minty has been a rather consistant character referenced even in the G4 media and toys. I believe it was a shoutout to her many G3 fans, and I imagine this is not so different. Like instead of including only the G1 counterparts of the beloved G4 characters, also include the G1 counterpart of a beloved G3 character.

That's what I mean, if they're including the G1 Minty I think it's done with a similar mindset behind why G1 Twilight and the rest are included. It might sound like a bit of a leap but they've notably had a thing for including G3 Minty in things. I think it's them making a nod to G3 Minty by including G1 Minty, equating the G1 Minty with her later-gen countarpart just like is the basis for the comic itself.

Of course this theory will hold more water if G3 Minty does actually show up in the comic as well, but even if she doesn't I still think it's the same mentality.

Well I got the digital copy again and read it around 1am on Wednesday.... SO CLICHE and BORING and UGH!

well when I first looked at it, I scanned the pages more than read the dialog cause it was boing after a few pages...

The gist of my prediction in a previous post happened -_-

More annoying modern stuff the "daughters' yapped on about. The writer/s don't seem to know much about the witches, so they probably never did watch The End of Flutter Valley. Not even sure they watched the movie....that's how I feel anyway about reading all the daughters dialog and their mothers letters...

The school part is boring and predictable. The rat is even more annoying.

The rare thing I liked was Violet Shiver's thing. Just cause I like winter/snow stuff...

Other than that it was a big UGH for me sadly.... now I fear my prediction for the third issue is also going to be true

Wow, so many bloody mistakes. -_- No jewel eyes for Galaxy. Gusty and Lofty have Galaxy's symbol. Twilight and Queen Rosedust are earth ponies. Did these people do more then 2 seconds if research or what?

The Generation comics have had a lot of art shortcuts (A LOT of the G4 drawings are heavily referenced from show screenshots and common clip art) so I think it might just be because of a strict time limit leading to oversights.

I don't get the negativity over minor errors . . . The G1 cartoon was riddled with animation errors. When the three flutter ponies arrive to unSmooze Spike they change colors three times.

I do wish they'd introduced the G1 ponies sooner, I don't think they needed so much build up. Like, we get it writers, it's a crossover. You don't need a logical reason for the crossover, just open some portals like the TF / MLP crossover did, lol.

That said, the 2nd issue with the evil ponies was a blast. I would want them for teachers too, they seem like a lot of fun.

not only cursed their enemies to stay in a volcano forever, but also cursed their enemies descendants to do the same (wait, is Descendants a Hasbro toyline?), which is pretty brutal. But definitely fitting of the G1 generation where it was like they flipped a coin to decide if they would befriend a villain or wreck them.

Interesting to see Dream Castle in the background, hopefully this occurs in an alternate universe where dumb ol' Magic Star didn't give away the castle to, like, six Grundles.

Also interesting to see Minty included! Okay, so my theory is they wanted to include beloved G3 Minty but felt it would be too confusing to include G3 ponies. To me the pony between Cotton Candy and Morning Glory on the cover looks like G3 Minty. Unless G1 Minty is just a "random pony". In any case, she never had a canon personality in G1 (didn't even have a backcard story, poor girl) so if she IS a major character this will be her first time in the spotlight.

I would love it if the last issue went completely nuts for a few pages and just brought in a bunch of ponies from all the gens and every spin-off of MLP you can imagine. No logic, just opening portals. Have them interact in quick background gags. Don’t be shy. Bring in the Takara Ponies idk, go buck wild.
