G5 New info and screen shot of MLP Movie +Toys

...which reveals what looks like backgrounds from the movie, and some new stock art for the Mare-oon 5/Star 5. Also good if you like puzzles and (apparently) posters. The first image is apparently a poster.

Tick, Tick ... Boom! Was essentially a one man show that was written by Jonathan Larson (wrote Rent) and he performed for 5-6 years before premiere of Rent and sadly his sudden death. :( I’ve always wondered how many other amazing shows he could’ve brought us and would’ve loved for him to be able to see Rent and what it’s become for so many people.

Back to the post. I’m happy to see more stuff but super upset that Hitch isn’t in any merch. Why can’t I have my boy ponies!?!?? *so sad*

Hmm that sounds interesting, I’ll definitely be checking it out. We sang some of the songs from Rent in my high school chorus but weren’t allowed to watch the show lol. Thanks for the info about it!
 
It irritates me that Trailblazer is already being shoved out of toys and merchandise.

I think this might be the first time we've seen more stuffed toys, and gimmicky toys right off the bat? They usually come later into the generation.

I guess they’re really confident about this relaunch. They really expanded the MLP brand in G4 (so much stuff, so much media, so many different kinds of toys...) so I guess they want to continue that momentum.

Maybe. Who knows what goes on, in the mysterious minds of toy execs at any given time?

Only The Shadow knows.

All I want is the green guard Pegasus pony. I like him and the blue guard, because they remind me of the pegasus foals from Fantasia. Doubly so, if they're So-Softs. Will be very annoyed if they are not made. So I may hafta get a cross gen custom or fakie custom made in order to have one. Am already researching possibilities because Hasbro NEVER fails to disappoint me.

They probably won’t be officially made, they’re probably just set pieces. But like you said there’s always customs.

Which is why Hasbro disappoints me. It's supposed to be a collectible line of colorful horsies, and Hasbro hasn't believed in that philosophy since 3.5 started, and they got obsessed with Mane Suxx repeats. :hmph:

I will be livid if they dare stick another of those accursed characters into the new line. They need to be gone, and stay gone.

They've never treated Transformers this way. I laugh at people who complain about too many repeats in the TF line, because they get way more old, new, popular and obscure characters in a few months, then MLP has had since G3.5 began.

I'm not sure how they balance Littlest Pet Shop, and lines that they are licensed to do by other companies.

I'm also not sure how well they balance G.I Joe.

Oh believe me, I’ve ranted about this so many times.
Hasbro: “We want to focus on storytelling and characters this Gen!”
FiM staff: “Cool! *makes a lot of named side characters to surround the Mane 6*”
Hasbro: “Oh well we didn’t mean we would actually make them.”
This is just a guess but this is probably because the toy exclusive ponies didn’t sell as well (I mean, most parents can’t afford to buy every single new pony so when they can get a pony they would get a pony they knew) so they assumed any ponies that weren’t the Mane 6 wouldn’t sell and that’s why they seldom made them.
Honestly they should’ve just made more two-packs. One member of the Mane 6 and then a new pony. That gets the M6 rerelease out of the way and then actually includes a new one.

Which might make sense, if it weren't for the fact that M6 are shelf sitters and new characters fly off the shelves. They're just lazy and obsessed. Hopefully, freaking HOPEFULLY this new gen will be balanced again.

I will give credit where its due, and say that Hasbro did not disappoint me, by creating all new characters this time around. It was a breath of fresh air to see new designs and colors and names and symbols.

As for it returning to form for the collectible nature of the brand, I'll wait and see. And maybe, I'll be able to buy myself a green pegasus guard.
