Which might make sense, if it weren't for the fact that M6 are shelf sitters and new characters fly off the shelves. They're just lazy and obsessed. Hopefully, freaking HOPEFULLY this new gen will be balanced again.

I will give credit where its due, and say that Hasbro did not disappoint me, by creating all new characters this time around. It was a breath of fresh air to see new designs and colors and names and symbols.

As for it returning to form for the collectible nature of the brand, I'll wait and see. And maybe, I'll be able to buy myself a green pegasus guard.

I also kinda hope to get that guard (especially if the toy is making the same pouty face as that pic we saw) as a toy eventually :smile: He looked so cute

I'd say G3 has the widest variety of expressions. Being horsey, moving their ears, opening/closing their mouths to various degrees, tilting their heads this way and that, really made all the difference.

With G5 having Elsa faces, to quote another member, it could take a turn into uncanny valley.

G1 expressions are mild and gentle.

I only have one G2, longtime collectors will hafta chime in.

G4 does not have much in the way of expression in the main line, being chihuahua headed and having very few moulds. Movie toys looked sugar rushed. 4.5 looked like a combo of strung out, and shell-shocked when they discovered they were missing their lower jaws.

I’ve seen a lot of G4 hate in my day but that is definitely among the most creative wording, haha. Tbh I liked the expressionless main G4, with the very slight smile. Barely having a mouth just ties the whole design together for me. Especially on the ponies with Fluttershy and Applejack eyes, they look very sweet. I just wish they had poses but what can yah do.

Side note but I was scrolling thru the movie toys in MLPMerch and just found out there was a whole Mane 6 line where the gimmick was literally...press their cutie mark and they light up and hoof bump (?) you or your other ponies in this gimmick line. So that just reminds me of another thing I want from G5: Less and better gimmicks! When I was little I always preferred play sets over gimmicks and I feel the same now. But I know they can’t completely go without gimmicks so they should be, you know, better.

And never do Silly Looks again.

@yourpinkoverlord Actually, it was my boyfriend who pointed it out to me. I couldn't disagree, because the man isn't wrong.

You can't tell me Gen Jawless doesn't look shell-shocked. I mean, wouldn't you be, if you woke up to find body parts were missing? :shock: :unsure:

I have this Pinky and she is an absolute hoot. She looks like she's been goosed! I can see she would frighten small children with her gaping gawp, but I think it's a hoot to play with. You can make her react in horror while watching the news!

I think the Twinkle-Eyes will always be my favorite G1 ponies...what if G5 could do something similar? Maybe have a gimmick where the highlight in their eye is a gem? I'd be all for that!

I would be in the stores so fast! The only real reason I took a liking to g2 was the eye gems. lol

I'm not entirely sure where the peeps on the mlparena found this piccy? But aside from Green Guard Dude, Trailblazer is truly my favorite design. I loooove his blue/green gradient hair, stripe, socks and creamsicle coat. I just don't understand the patch on his chest. He's not a pinto. Its more like what you'd see on a dog or cat.

I just realized the blue guard has a purple tail. How pretty!

The Hitch pic is from the MLP Instagram. They’ve really been advertising Hitch on there, all of their G5-related posts that weren’t character introductions have been about Hitch. And I think he’s my favorite design too. It would’ve been Zipp if the colors on her wings matched her mane.

I didn’t notice the guard has a purple tail! That means it’s likely his mane is purple too.
 
@Leave a Whisper - MLP’s Instagram has certainly been busy pushing a pony they don’t seem to have much merch of. Most recently they’ve announced that Hitch is a “sheriff” anyone already sense Walking Dead and Toy Story cross overs for Halloween from fandom?

I like that profile, a nice solid chunky horsey nose and chin. Why can't they keep that profile always.
