I like that her hair goes in front of her horn.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the ball joint neck does make customization nearly impossible, right?

If I'm remembering correctly, I might not, the ball joint would need to be cut off to get to the tail.

New Merch news is up for everyone. Sorry it's a couple days late, been working on some secret projects and helping with sorting the fundraiser. ;)

Not impossible but super duper annoying and tedious. When they show up here, I will nab one to use as my test subject.

So I saw Hitch’s packaging today…. Hasbro has failed hard, why is his accessory a comb? They’re just rubbing salt into the wound here. *eye roll*

It doesn’t seem like it’s going to say anywhere “Hitch Trailblazer comes with a comb YOU can use!”.
Are there any picures of what the backs are like?

Oh my goodness! Thinking of boys with long hair. My little brother grew his out repeatedly to donate it. Thick, almost black, curly, and i grew (still grows) so fast. He has the best hair. Since none oof you with tell him... I used to braid and style it when he was little.

I've refrained from putting my opinion on this G5 collection and cartoon movie. I can't hold it in anymore.

The artwork was created by a French 9 year old girl who won the contest. Great. This means, to me at least, the design is trying to cater toward children between the ages of 5 and 10. The design is more simplistic than usual. Having a hinted human face quality to it when looked at face on. This means, the basic original concept of MLP was, and I quote from The Toys That Made Us Netflix series on MLP episode, "...the ponies are little girls. The ponies act like little girls and kids would."...I'm more paraphrasing from memory on that quote.

Having that in mind, G5 is catering toward little kids boy or girl that incorporate themselves as the pony they play with their imagination. (all toys are for that purpose of course) This means, the design is more eye catching toward little kids as it should be. Leave G1 to us old collectors recapturing collections lost and the love we grew up with. Those of us who grew up with G2 and G3, recapture that joy in the same way. G4 is still catered nicely to kids now, but of course the cartoon centered perfect to adults cause of how we grew up with Dr. Who, Sailor Moon, etc as it hints into the series of such fun nostalgia, as it was written to do so. Now here it is G5, love them or hate them or indifferent to them, this collection I believe is built to catch the eye of kids strictly for that purpose.

As G2 was a mid point to G3, so can be said that G4.5 or even G5 is a mid point for something else. Only time will tell on Hasbro's part of the G6 designs if there ever will be. We'll have to wait and see. But as for now G5 is strictly for children. I will never collection G5 ponies ever as the design looks too human in the face. I've had my fill of MLP as an adult collector. I step aside for the parents with kids to have their birthday and Christmas gifts of G5 MLP to their children, as so they deserve.

Got an official source for that one?

Looks like you’ve gotten some mixed up information. Sunny and Izzy were designed by a French freelance artist (who was big in the G4 fandom) but she’s an adult and very much a professional who works at Boulder Media. Her screen name is Imalou. You can see some of her artwork here:
Her Professional portfolio is here:

While the designs are more humanized with facial expressions etc, ultimately they had to do something to appeal to younger audiences. Designs and colour schemes that children can relate to. Hasbro also wants to change what G4 was but also keep them similar to try and keep their large G4 audience.

MLP has always been a brand geared to younger children and this did get lost in translation with G4 as they started to cater toward a more adult audience. Personally, I’m pretty happy and thankful that Hasbro (once again) got their initial designs from a fan of MLP and not just some Joe-schmo off his run from a production. A lot of heart and thought went into designs and ultimately Hasbro has the final say in what their products look and act like in every way.

Hasbro is a company that sells product and they need to keep up with current trends. They’ve catered to us “old folks” by pumping a lot of G1 merch in the last couple years but they also need to cater to their targeted demographic. Ultimately no one can really say what’s what until the movie is released in September. Maybe these characters and this new cast will be just as (or more) loveable than past characters. I’m forever optimistic when it comes to MLP and I always hope for good.

At the dawning of a new generation there’s always going to be collectors let down and others who are thrilled and everyone is entitled to their opinions on every gen and that’s why our community continues to flourish. I am a G1, G2 & G4 girl who grew up with G1. I personally never liked G3 toys or the show/movies (if any gen is for young kids this is the one) I thought it was awful. But I’m always excited for those that love and have nostalgia for that generation.

Ultimately it’s a waiting game once again.

I was not aware of the brushable of Sandbar until last night. Hasbro, you could have done this with Hitch

How many colts did they make like this? I’ve only seen the zebra-like hair of Big Mac and the troll-like hair Shining Armour
